Claudio Ranieri gives Leicester stars New Year’s Eve pass
Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri says in-form duo Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez are committed to staying with the Foxes this month.

“This is another aspect”, said Ranieri.
The surge of smaller teams as well as sides eyeing a maiden league triumph have opened up the league at the halfway stage.
Many would pick one of the struggling big teams or a manager sacking, but for me the biggest shock this season has been the unpredictability of the league.
Leicester though are making a habit of upsetting the odds and don’t be surprised if El Ghazi is allowing Vardy and co some much-needed respite at the King Power Stadium before the window closes.
The Cherries edged a tight first half in which Josh King headed wide and Dan Gosling shot over.
Sergio Aguero missed over from point-blank range against Leicester on Tuesday.
Jamie Vardy has unique strengths, he combines an incredible work ethic with real pace, determination and fight to score his next goal.
A pulsating match had everything other than goals and despite the barrage of second half pressure from the Foxes, Bournemouth were good value for their point. Chelsea’s fall from champions to strugglers has been the story of the season, but I never believed that the Blues would sack their main man. Someone of his stature will get plenty of job offers and he won’t be out of work that long. The introduction of experienced defender Sylvain Distin, for midfielder Harry Artur, helped as Bournemouth by and large kept Leicester at arm’s length for the remainder of the game. Substitute Shinji Okazaki sent a volley narrowly wide before Vardy glanced a header past a post in between two efforts by N’Golo Kante from outside the box.
“With the amount of points we have at this moment, it is not good to fight for the title in a normal season, but we are now just three points behind the leaders.
I wanted to put on another striker to try to win”, added Ranieri, whose side host Bournemouth next on Saturday.
Six minutes earlier, Boruc made an excellent one-handed save to deny Vardy. Earned his clean sheet.
“We didn’t win against Arsenal but I don’t think we played a bad game and we played very well against Sunderland”.
A goalless draw is not a regular reason for a football team to celebrate-more cause for it to shrug its shoulders and move on, undamaged, to the next, hopefully more exciting game.
Eddie Howe will be delighted given the circumstances.

The penalty call. Such a big decision and replays suggested Andre Marriner got it wrong.
