Claudio Ranieri warns of tougher season after opening day defeat

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri insists that he is serious when saying that Premier League survival is the priority for his defending champions this season. More like heading into battle with a catapult and a couple of ball-bearings than even Bruce’s pop gun.

It’s wonderful what a difference 90 minutes can make to the feelings of football fans and Hull City’s faithful were the beneficiaries after an incredible start to the Premier League season for the club in turmoil against champions Leicester City. “The players enjoyed themselves”, Phelan said.

A Hull City fan holds a protest sign under his arm during the Premier League match between Hull City and Leicester City at KCOM Stadium on August 13, 2016 in Hull, England. “But of course, for the new people, new manager, new players, to start winning helps to believe in what we are doing”.

“The togetherness of the lads, you have seen it for years”.

“We had a big, big chance close to half-time with Gerard Deulofeu”.

“It’s not often in the Premier League you have a 0-0 game, you have to score goals, our guys have to learn and learn quickly, it’s hard for them but they managed to keep going”.

While his tackling and interception statistics can’t match those of Kante, he is energetic, works hard and is pacy, and his game intelligence means that he should be able to improve these numbers if given a spoiler-recycler brief by Ranieri. “We had a list, those players have gone but players may want to come to this club now – results, performances and attitudes change things”.

“The takeover has been in the offing for eight to 12 months”, Phelan said. Due to a lack of bodies caused by both the absenc of any signings and a crippling injury list, the defender played 630 minutes.

Hull: Jakupovic, Robertson, Davies, Meyler, Huddlestone, Hernandez, Snodgrass, Clucas, Livermore, Diomande, Elmohamady. Leicester went into the game as favorites and their opponents went into the as relegation favorites.

Moyes’ former club Everton started life under Ronald Koeman by drawing with last season’s third place team Tottenham Hotspur at Goodison Park.

“For this reason I told them we must be very strong together because last season we showed ourselves as a very good team and we need to repeat that”.

“It is easy to duck the job but he wants to take on this mighty challenge”.

“There may be some positives we can look at later in the week but overall the picture is one of real disappointment and we need to move on from this quickly”. Eric Bailly was named the man of the match in the community shield win over the Leicester City while Zlatan Ibrahimovic had his moment to cherish, scoring in every game he played in the United shirt.

Musa, who played all 90 minutes at the KC Stadium, was one of the stand-out performers in the season-opener but his effort was unable to save Leicester from going down to an opening day defeat as Hull City claimed a 2-1 victory.
