Clemson Advances to Title Game
According to a story from the Dallas Morning News, a cold call from Clemson Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney back in 2009 led to a friendship that lasts to this day. But instead of the kick, punter Andy Teasdall threw a handsome 31-yard pass to Christian Wilkins – a 268-pound defensive end.

Two plays later, quarterback Deshaun Watson would take the ball in on a five-yard touchdown run and a 10-7 Tigers lead. “It’s just real fun, but it’s nothing like the emotion of just dominating the guys in front of you and getting so excited with your brothers after they make a big play”. No college football team has ever won 15 games, but that opportunity is on the horizon. Clemson has a 75-0-1 record when recording at least 200 passing and 200 rushing yards in the same game.
“They played more physically than we did”, Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said.
Greg Huegel made three of his four field goal attempts, converting from 26, 36 and 43 yards in the first half before missing wide right on a 47-yard attempt midway through the third quarter.
Big-picture cultural and political questions aside, that’s probably the bottom line when it comes to Swinney’s status as a quintessential Southern man of faith: so long Clemson keeps winning, he’ll have plenty of support, irrespective of his seeming quest to bring Jesus into virtually every part of the school’s football program.
As for Cain, he could get a second chance but only if he takes a different approach.
Unlike Clemson, Oklahoma has lost a game.
The play kept the drive alive and capped off a 96-yard drive for Clemson. If Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart dedicates his game plan to stopping the tandem of Gallman and Watson, it will enable Scott to blow the top off the defense.
“At halftime, (the Clemson staff) told me they were coming to me, they challenged me”, Gallman said.
Clemson’s 300-yard run game versus Oklahoma was no fluke.
Clemson will be going for its first national title since 1981, having shown that it can deal with injuries and any distraction that might come its way. He said he feared a playoff-or-bust mind-set would develop, though he’s seeing it already.

He was named ACC Player of the Year, The State’s Amateur Athlete of the Year and Clemson’s first finalist for the Heisman Trophy, which is awarded to the nation’s best college football player.
