The Clemson basketball team played a great game offensively, but fell short to the Minnesota Gophers in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge by a score of 89-83.

Freshman forward Jordan Murphy came off the bench to collect a team-high 24 points and a game-high 10 rebounds for the Golden Gophers (5-2), who stretched their home non-conference winning streak to 47 games. The duo of Donte Grantham and Jaron Blossumgame pumped in 22 points apiece and combined for 15 rebounds while Landry Nnoko added 14 points and five yanks. The Tigers will have a chance to correct that and pull off a rare two-game sweep of the conference on Monday when they visit Minnesota. Guard Nate Mason and forward Joey King each added 17 points and Mason had eight assists, as well. Murphy put up a career-high 24 points.
The defensive minded Clemson Tigers are off to a solid 4-1 start with nice balance at both ends of the floor.
The Tigers shot 53.7% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc. The Tigers were just not able to match the offensive attack.
Minnesota went 24 for 30 at the free throw line and only turned it over six times.

The Golden Gophers are 4-2 against Clemson in six all-time meetings, but Clemson won the last meeting – in the Challenge – in 2006 at Minnesota.
