Clemson, Oklahoma Advances to College Football Playoff Championship Game
The Crimson Tide throttled Michigan State 38-0 in a game that was over early.

Despite that, Lawson said after the game that he expects to be able to play in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game on January 11. Coach Nick Saban, moving on to his fourth national championship game in seven years, is now 9-0 against former assistants with every win coming by at least 14 points.
“We got a great chance to get back here”, said Alexander, looking up from a Snapchat message showing a highlight of the game.
The midfield is shown during media day for the NCAA Cotton Bowl college football game Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015, in Arlington, Texas.
In the evening’s game, Oklahoma State and Ole Miss see each other in a rematch of the Cotton Bowls played following the 2009 and 2003 seasons.
Now he will wind up facing his alma mater in Clemson’s biggest game in more than 34 years. The freshman Ridley was brilliant, streaking by defenders on deep throws and outfighting them on jump balls. He caught eight passes for 138 yards and two TDs.
Jones added a high-stepping 57-yard punt return touchdown for the Tide, which hardly had to use Heisman Trophy victor Derrick Henry. Wayne Gallman rushed for 150 yards and a pair of TDs. Alabama won 38-0…
The first day of 2015 could not have gone more perfectly for College Football Playoff organizers. Last season Alabama couldn’t get past the semifinals, upset by Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl.
No. 1 Clemson and No. 2 Alabama both made major statements with sizable semifinal victories over Oklahoma and Michigan State, respectively.
Quarterback Deshaun Watson turned in another stellar all-around performance, beating Oklahoma with his arm and his legs.
And in the second half, Clemson was simply the stronger team.
“Ben Boulware, ugly mustache and all, he is – when you talk about heart, when you talk about guts, he’s the epitome of that, and he really is kind of the heart over there defensively”, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said of his junior linebacker. “They’re going to have a scheme and try to contain me, but I’ve still got a job to do”. It was just a matter of when.
Clemson outscored Oklahoma 21-0 during a 15-minute span in the second half to take control of the game. The Sooners (11-2) matched their lowest-scoring game of the season as Baker Mayfield was sacked five times and intercepted twice, finally getting knocked out of the game when he took a blow to the head trying to make a tackle after his second pick.
“All we require in the recruitment of any player is that he must be a great player at his position, meet the academic requirements and have good character”.
What happened: Late in the first quarter, the Sooners led 7-3 and appeared to be cruising down the field toward another touchdown.
Its impact: Clemson scored two plays later on a 5-yard Watson touchdown run to take a 10-7 lead.
All together, there might not be a better backfield in the country in 2016. “It’s just that simple”. If we played the best Christians, I wouldn’t be sitting here.
Story of the Game: As alluded to above, it was the Clemson defensive line dominating this game. Had Oklahoma stopped the attempt – or Clemson just punted – the Sooners would’ve come up with a huge stop and halted some Tiger momentum.
If Watson was flustered by that interception, he sure didn’t show it after the break.
All that being said, those commissioners need to do some soul-searching this offseason, because it’s just plain insulting to college football fans to intentionally inconvenience them.

By about the midway point of the third quarter, and with Clemson having run close to 75 total plays to that point, you could tell that the Oklahoma defense was becoming worn out brought on by the length of time on the field and a game temperature that was well into the 80s on the field. He said he suffered the injury on the first series, but went back out for another series in an effort to play through the pain.
