Clemson secures No. 1 in all three major polls

Clemson (1-0) moved up to No. 1 with Ohio State dropping to No. 2, followed by Alabama (9-1), Oklahoma State (10-0) and Notre Dame (9-1) to round out the top 5.

Though still unranked, the Arkansas Razorbacks received a number of votes in both polls this week after beating the LSU Tigers in their second straight upset win.

There were changes at the top of the new coaches poll. The thing is, Clemson had a survive-and-advance game against Syracuse-which, to be clear, everyone has had at least one of those this season-while Ohio State took care of IL 28-3.

Following a 34-17 win over NC State, Florida State will more then likely be rewarded with a bump up in the polls.

With Utah also losing at Arizona, the conference now has no teams with fewer than two losses, severely complicating its chances to have a representative in the top four in the final playoff standings. Their loss to OR sent them tumbling eight positions to No. 15. MI State 10. Baylor 11.

Stock up: North Carolina. Another dominant victory, this time at the expense of Miami (Fla.) now has them at No. 12, up five places from last week.

No. 10 Baylor at No. 4 Oklahoma State and No. 11 TCU at No. 7 Oklahoma. If anything, it’s more closely mirroring last week’s playoff poll. The Crimson Tide crushed No. 25 Mississippi State Bulldogs by 25 points.
