Clemson sends 3 players home for unspecified violations
Clemson placekicker Ammon Lakip, wide receiver Deon Cain, and tight end Jay Jay McCullough have been suspended for violating team rules.

“There’s too much at stake to worry about things like that”, he said. It’s really that simple. “It’s not really a complicated matter at all. But the part that you don’t know until they get there inside the meeting room is the mental aspect, and I think we found out pretty quickly his freshman year being put in some games”.
Swinney added that all three players forfeited their chance to play for the remainder of the postseason.
Cain has 582 yards receiving on 34 receptions this season. He rushed for at least 100 yards in four of the final five regular-season games.
Swinney played down the importance of Cain in his offense, saying receiver Charone Peake had had always been lined up as the starter and that he is confident in Trevion Thompson as the backup.

“It helps that we have a big roster”, Swinney said.
But the Tigers’ biggest problem, according to Swinney, was that the Clemson family was divided.
“Why would it be a distraction?” he shot back. The victor of this game plays the victor of Michigan State versus Alabama. It’s not a distraction at all. Those guys, they’re focused on doing what they do. “It has nothing to do with them”. Since returning, Lakip had handled the Tigers’ kickoff duties and for the ACC Championship Game against North Carolina, Lakip took over extra point duties for Greg Huegel.
Dabo Swinney confirmed Wednesday that the players were suspended, but would not elaborate on the reasons.
Today, we will preview the game looking just at the pure battles on each side of the ball as the two teams match up against one another. Lakip is a senior and already graduated, so his college career is over.
“He’ll have an opportunity to come back to school next week, and he’s got a chance to graduate by the summer, and then he’ll have an opportunity to move on”, Swinney said.
“The story continues”, Castiglione said, “so we have to deal with it over and over again”.
