According to multiple reports out of Miami, Clemson has sent three players home from the Orange Bowl for failed drug tests.

The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the private nature of the matter. He had 34 catches for 582 yards this season. However, he lost the job after he was suspended to start the season after he was arrested in June for DUI and cocaine possession.

Coach Dabo Swinney confirmed the suspensions Wednesday morning at his final news conference before the game.

Swinney says Cain could return the Tigers next season “if he grows up and does what he needs to do”.

“He’ll have an opportunity to come back to school next week, and he’s got a chance to graduate by the summer, and then he’ll have an opportunity to move on”, Swinney said.

Cain was also suspended this year, as the freshman was held out of the team’s game against Miami for attitude reasons.

Lakip, who served as the Tigers’ primary field goal kicker in 2014, never reclaimed that role from redshirt freshman Greg Huegel in 2015.

For 13 games, Clemson has prided itself on remaining focused on the task at hand despite of the distractions around them.

“It’s a distraction for me because I have to answer questions about three guys”, Swinney said. The top-ranked Tigers face No. 4 Oklahoma at 4 p.m. ET on Thursday (ESPN).
