Clemson vs. Oklahoma: Orange Bowl Predictions
With the new BCS National Championship game in place, the Clemson Tigers are still playing at a shot for a National Championship despite playing in a bowl game. On that historic occasion, the Sooners and Derrick Shepard beat another No. 1 team, Penn State, 25-10, in the 1986 Orange Bowl (although this was at the original Orange Bowl site and not Sun Life Stadium, where the game is played now). I mean, when you have 115 guys, you’re going to have young people – you’re going to have some discipline from time to time.

So let’s check out all of the important information for the 2015 Orange Bowl, which also serves as the first playoff semifinal.
College football has been a New Year’s Day staple for decades, with the Rose Bowl a standard on the first day of each year. McCullough was primarily used as a blocker and played only 99 snaps this year. Lawson wil undoubtedly be a top 10 pick in the NFL Draft this year and has to solidify his draft stock with a big performance in this one.
Oklahoma has its own all-conference cornerback in Zack Sanchez, but Clemson’s receiver corps presents a different sort of challenge: the Tigers’ unit lacks a clear-cut star but has almost unparalleled depth. Boykin missed the game against the Sooners with an injured right ankle, and Oklahoma escaped with a 30-29 win.
Along the way, they took down three ranked teams, including earning signature victories over the then-No.
“The main trophy that he wants is the one they present at the end of the year to the last team standing”, Swinney said. “It’s the Heisman!,’ and he’s just like, ‘Yeah, you know, OK, ‘” Swinney said. “It’s really that simple”. They forfeited their opportunity to play. Kansas State’s Joe Hubener ran for more than 600 yards this season, but he had just 16 yards on nine carries against Oklahoma, and the Sooners rolled 55-0.
Clemson has been stingy when it comes to defending the pass, but a bit leaky against the run.
The stakes are a lot higher this time around.
“And so far, they’ve done the things that they need to do to be able to give themselves another opportunity to see how they could play in a playoff game”. Clemson’s wins against Notre Dame, Florida State and North Carolina saw Watson run for 93, 107 yards and 131 yards, respectively.
“I think Deshaun is really the only one that compares to each other”.
Neither team has been particularly impressive in the kickoff or punt return games. And these Sooners could very well be the bunch that wins Stoops’ second national title. Michigan State’s Mark Dantonio is third with 65.
MSU needed a bit of luck to get to the playoff.
The Spartans will send in a trio of running backs, LT Scott, Gerald Holmes and Madre London, to counter Alabama’s top-ranked rushing attack. “We have never played that card”.
I expect Clemson to win this game in a relatively low scoring game.
Some excellent regular season coaches turn into SpongeBob or Patrick come bowl time, unable to keep the team focused or make the right strategic adjustments.
Years ago, back when his program was young and Stoops was fresh off winning the national championship, he found himself at a Christmas party with former Oklahoma coach Barry Switzer.
Lakip handled some extra points for the Tigers, going 7-for-7, and also connected on his only field-goal attempt. There’s not a lot of margin for error, certainly when you’re playing a team as hot as Oklahoma.
How will Clemson counter Oklahoma’s tough, up-tempo offense? “I had to remind everyone we had just won the Sugar Bowl and were sixth in the country the year before”.

Clemson linebacker Ben Boulware added, “There’s a bunch of smack talk going around from their side”.
