Cleveland Browns Dominant Win Highlights Season’s Frustrations

The Cleveland Browns got a rare win on Sunday and it was all thanks to the arm of Johnny Manziel. However, lets temper our enthusiasm.

The Browns ran for 230 yards on 41 rushing attempts against the 49ers and Isaiah Crowell thinks the team could have more wins if it committed to the run all year. Some of you may have forgotten that is worth six points plus a shot at an extra point.

These numbers won’t wow anybody, and the extra time Manziel has had over nearly two seasons surely benefit him over actual rookies.

Notable: Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel finished 21-of-30 for 270 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He is going to learn.

They also see a guy who slammed down his helmet and hit himself in the head five times with his Microsoft Surface tablet after his interception at the end of the first half against the 49ers.

Tomsula said the coaching staff stressed the proper mindset all week during practice.

Quarterback Blaine Gabbert couldn’t get anything going; this just one week after having perhaps his best game as a starter in years. Every play, you are not to see something every time. “We’ve got to figure out a way to correct and prepare and go play to win a football game”.

“The Surface did survive, I believe”, Manziel said after the game, per The Plain Dealer. And he said the players “are going to be behind him no matter what”.

Pettine said he made good adjustments and had command of the huddle. WR Taylor Gabriel is expected to be back this week after missing three games with a concussion. “The mistake before the half is well-documented- that’s glaring- but other than that I just thought he was in great command of the huddle”. Yesterday he finished the game with one catch. He stayed in the pocked when he could, and extended plays only out of necessity. There were times, we all saw, where he has that special ability to extend the play and was able to do that numerous times with solid success.

On Monday, as he reflected on the ingredients that went into the convincing victory, Pettine called last week’s practices some of the best, given the circumstances, he’s seen in recent memory.

Based on the offense’s performance, I think it’s pretty clear that Geep Chryst also needs to get the old heave-ho come January. We didn’t block. Our line didn’t play well.

At 3-10 the Browns face their toughest test of the season when they travel to Seattle to face the Seahawks on Sunday.

Tomsula insists he reinforced those very ideas all week leading up to the game about being prepared despite the Browns’ long skid and 2-10 record entering the matchup. “We know that this is a formidable opponent in one of the most hostile environments in the league”. We’re going to have to take a hard look at some of the things we’re doing, rebound, and reboot the system.
