After the domestic violence allegations, the Cowboys stated they would not pick up Manziel.

On Friday, it was Johnny Manziel’s turn.

Manziel wasn’t required to be at Cleveland’s finale, but he skipped a required medical checkup and the team didn’t know where he was amid reports he was hitting the clubs and casinos in Vegas while wearing a disguise.

On first-and-10 from the Browns’ 20-yard line after Carolina went ahead, 10-3, on a two-yard touchdown run from Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, Manziel rushed to the left of the pocket and dove for the sideline. “I will always remember the support I received from the organization, my teammates and especially the fans.” . However, before he can become a free agent, he must first clear waivers and there is one huge reason why it shouldn’t be surprising if he does get claimed prior to the Saturday deadline.

He passed for 1,675 yards with seven touchdowns and seven interceptions. He added 259 rushing yards and one score. He made six starts last season in place of an injured Josh McCown, finishing with a 2-4 record.

Manziel leaves with two years remaining on his four-year, $8,248,596 contract – $7,998,596 of which was guaranteed.

On the field, Manziel didn’t fare much better.

As for the Browns the search is on for a new quarterback. The team cut ties on Friday, March 11, 2016, with the 2012 Heisman Trophy victor after two disappointing, drama-filled seasons.

After being benched on multiple occasions for off-the-field issues, Manziel reportedly suffered a concussion in a 17-13 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium on December 27, 2015.
