The Cleveland Browns cut ties with Johnny Manziel on Friday when they released the much-maligned quarterback.

Once it became clear that the Cleveland Browns planned to part ways with QB Johnny Manziel – a move that became official Friday – many pointed to the Dallas Cowboys as a team that might have interest in him.
“I will always remember the support I received from the organisation, my team-mates and especially the fans”. In his career, Manziel’s completed 57 percent of his passes, averaged 6.49 yards per attempt, compiled a TD/INT ratio of 7/7, and posted a quarterback rating of 74.4.
He was benched, and demoted to third string quarterback, in November a year ago after video emerged of Manziel partying during the team’s bye week.
Just realize the next time you hear the organization talking about high character and that Manziel didn’t meet their standard, they’re really talk about the on-field standard. But he played in just 14 games over two seasons and started eight. Talent clearly plays a major factor in whether a team is willing to take a gamble on a player with off field question marks, but most National Football League franchises likely feel that the risk of signing Manziel won’t outweigh the potential reward of acquiring him.
As the poll summary noted, “It’s patently ridiculous to think a college team could beat even so hapless an National Football League team as the Browns, but that’s where we are”. A Dallas County grand jury is now weighing whether to indict Manziel for assault. During that player selection meeting, Manziel sported an unhappy face for the cameras as the first round progressed, believing himself worth more than the 22nd pick the Browns ultimately paid for him. One showed Manziel clutching a bottle of what appeared to be champagne while floating on an inflatable swan.
Adding Manziel to your roster comes with a risk. Manziel is due $1.169 million next season and $1.294 million in 2017. No arrests were made during the incident, though Manziel told the cops he had a couple of drinks earlier in the day.
The Browns stood by Manziel.

As Cleveland.com reported, the Browns are still on the hook for Manziel’s contract. He had only two victories as a starter.
