Steven Taylor discusses the rivalry match with Seattle, the Portland atmosphere, and his first club goal. Dempsey was the U.S.’s top goal-scorer, leading coach Jurgen Klinsmann to hint that the forward could stick around through the 2018 World Cup.

Seattle general manager Garth Lagerwey said Friday that Dempsey’s irregular heartbeat is something the team has been monitoring during the season and the club is now waiting on the recommendations of doctors on how to proceed. A three-time World Cup champion, Dempsey has 52 career goals on the global stage, which is second only to Landon Collins for the USA all-time.

Bradley Wright-Phillips scored his 16th goal of the season in the 55th minute and the New York Red Bulls beat the New England Revolution 1-0. We scored four goals, and it could have been more goals, too.

Dempsey, 33, played all 90 minutes of Seattle’s 3-1 win against Portland last Sunday but did not travel with the team for a midweek game at Houston.
