Clint Dempsey scores in USMNT’s loss to Panama in Gold Cup

Audio of bash cranked from the Panama locker-room nextdoor as U.S. mentor Jurgen Klinsmann attempted to put another spin that is constructive on another loss.

“This is what it’s going to be like in qualifying”, veteran US defender DaMarcus Beasley said.

In Wednesday’s semifinals, Panama was on the verge of beating Mexico despite being down to 10 men – until a disputed hand ball was called in the area.

Panama won with starting goalkeeper Jaime Penedo and top scorer Luis Tejada suspended after a controversial 2-1 semi-final loss to Mexico.

12,598 paid to see this game, but far fewer showed up to PPL Park on Saturday. “They definitely deserved to win”. He is a very good goalkeeper, but he is going to be 39 when the World Cup in 2018 begins. “When it’s tournament time, it’s tournament time and you want to win it. We didn’t”.

That was a recurring problem in a disappointing Gold Cup for the Americans, who were favored to repeat as champions after they beat Panama in the 2013 final. But they were stunned by Jamaica in the semis and had their worst Gold Cup finish since losing to Colombia during a shootout in the 2000 quarterfinals.

“Progress is not linear for anyone”, Gulati said. But when Klinsmann was asked directly by ESPN FC if Howard would be called in, he would not confirm that the 36-year-old will be back.

Roberto Nurse obtained for Panama while in the 55th moment, and Clint Dempsey evened the game in the 70th with his contest- substantial goal that was seventh.

With the shootout tied 2-2 in the fourth round, Mejia saved U.S. captain Michael Bradley’s shot.

US goalkeeper Brad Guzan, who before the tournament had made a career of backing up Tim Howard, did well to keep his team alive and finished with 11 saves.

“This is likely to injure for some time for me personally”, said the 33-year old Beasley, who had declared his pension in the national workforce and then accept perform within the Gold Glass. Such was the slow and at times care-free nature with which some United States players went about their business.

Coach Hernan Gomez had to make do without five first-team players because of either suspensions or injuries.

On rsquo, Nurse&; target that was s, he faked the fresh center back who’d a tough competition, John Brooks out, to create an open photo. But in all six of its Gold Cup games, Panama went up 1-0 only to give up the equalizer in the second half and end regulation tied 1-1.

Despite the U.S.’ apathetic first half performance, Klinsmann didn’t make any changes at halftime.

Ten minutes later, both subs combined to equalize when Bradley picked out Yedlin’s run in behind.

The opening quarter produced little in the way of excitement and it was not until after the drinks break that the contest burst into life, as Panama twice came close to snatching the lead shortly before half-time.

“We learn from the negatives, take the positives and move on”, US striker DeAndre Yedlin said.

To start penalty kicks, Aron Johannsson and Clint Dempsey scored for the USMNT, while Roman Torre and Abdiel Arroyo matched for Panama.

The first opportunity for either side came in the 36 minute when Panama’s Armando Cooper put on a dribbling master class that made the United States look nonexistent. During last year’s World Cup when Jozy Altidore got injured, the US lacked a real threat up front, and having chosen to leave Landon Donovan out of his squad, questions were inevitably asked.
