Chelsea Clinton and father, former U.S. president Bill Clinton watch as Hillary Clinton speaks on the fourth day of the Democratic National Convention at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on July 28, 2016. “It is with humility, determination and boundless confidence in America’s promise that I accept your nomination for President of the United States”.
Still, some Sanders supporters heckled Clinton, apparently angry about a story which surfaced Sunday and indicated leaked emails showed the Democratic National Committee did not remain neutral and favored Clinton over Sanders during the primary race.
As he waved goodbye, Clinton joined him on stage to huge applause from the crowd.
The speech also included something for supporters of Clinton’s vanquished rival, Vermont Sen. Donald Trump can’t even handle the rough-and-tumble of a presidential campaign.
“Some people just don’t know what to make of me”, she said with a frankness that is unusual in American politics.
AMY GOODMAN: The final night of the Democratic convention featured singer Katy Perry, basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and retired four-star Marine General John Allen. “It’s just not right that Donald Trump can ignore his debts, but students and families can’t refinance theirs”.
Trump once said, “I love the poorly educated”, and according to the survey, he has an advantage with voters over the age of 65 who did not attend college, leading Clinton 49 percent to 33 percent.
Excitement filled the convention area heading into her speech, with attendees lining up outside the arena doors to experience the historic moment.
The challenge for her will be restating the anti-Trump argument in a fresh way that energizes Democrats and doesn’t alienate Republicans.
She kept her focus on criticizing Donald Trump’s business track record in her speech in Hatfield.
Clinton mentioned several types of Americans who work to “fix it together” such as police officers, implying that Trump ignored the crucial role they play in fixing our country’s problems.
