Clinton acknowledges work to do to win trust

Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton retained her lead over businessman Donald Trump in two more post-Democratic National Convention polls released Thursday.

Hillary Clinton leads Trump by roughly 7 points nationwide, according to the latest RealClearPolitics average of polls. In CNN’s poll, a slight majority of Republicans who back Trump do so because they support him, 51 percent to the 46 percent who oppose Clinton.

It conducted its latest sampling of 847 registered voters in Georgia via interviews from August 1 to 4 and has a 4 percentage point margin of error.

Ryan warned on Thursday that Trump has had a “strange run” since formally earning the nomination last month, and that it was “distressing” that the campaign was sidetracked instead of going after his Democratic rival Clinton.

State polls out of four states also show an increase in support for Hillary Clinton.

Clinton was viewed unfavorably by 53 percent of voters in the NBC/Journal poll and favorably by 37 percent.
