Clinton adopts controversial insurance position during Democratic debate

According to The New York Times’ roundup of commentators and debate analysts, Clinton took the win, but Sanders got the most attention on social media.

LOPEZ: Secretary Clinton – Secretary Clinton, Governor O’Malley wants to open up Obamacare to millions of undocumented immigrants and their children, including nearly 90,000 people right here in Nevada.

She praised the contenders for talking about issues that matter to the Latino community, including climate change, gun control, affordable education and health care. I think to go beyond that, as I understand what Governor O’Malley has recommended, so that they would get the same subsidies.

Santos Gonzalez, an industrial painter and sandblaster who is a member of IUPAT and attended the event, said he liked the way Clinton defended herself during the parts of the debate he saw and said she seems like a strong leader.

The Clinton campaign, which often frames issues as a choice between Clinton and Republicans rather than her opponents for the nomination, emphasized efficacy after the debate.

“The evidence is clear, comprehensive immigration reform, where we bring people out of the shadows, will be good for the economy, [and] will raise wages”, said Clinton in a question-and-answer session in San Antonio with the president of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

In a series of exchanges during the debate, Clinton managed to put the insurgent, Vermont Sen.

Cooper: “Gov. O’Malley says the presidency is not a crown to be passed back and forth between two royal families”.

“There is such a difference between everything you’re hearing here on this stage and what we hear from the Republicans, who have demonized hard-working immigrants, who have insulted them”, Clinton said.

O’Malley looked, as he has this year repeatedly, to Trump – saying Republicans have mischaracterized Maryland’s passage of the Dream Act as “free tuition for illegal immigrants”.

“Latinos aren’t the only people who are immigrants here”, she said. She watched the debate at an event hosted by the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA) in California, where Latinos make up almost 39 percent of the population. “You didn’t hear anyone speak ill because of a religious belief”, O’Malley said in his closing statements. “And I don’t think the Congress is going to pay for a lot of this stuff”.

We had a really interesting moment early on where Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton were sort of debating the nature of capitalism, democratic socialism, but it didn’t really last long. It’s had the highest percentage of undocumented immigrants of any state in the country as of a year ago. He has called the idea of open borders a Koch idea. Sanders explained he voted against 2007 legislation because it had guest-worker provisions that he called “semi-slavery”.

“It’s always the Republicans or their sympathizers who say, ‘You can’t have paid leave, you can’t provide health care, ‘” she said. He said Sanders’s message resonates with the working class, particularly Latinos, and not just on immigration.

Jessica Vaughan, the center’s director of policy studies and author of the report, said she was surprised by the “sheer number” of criminal offenders who are continuing to be released because of sanctuary policies.

“That’s the goal of Noticiero Movil is experimenting in journalism”, she said. There are many indications that such a bias exists, such as the DNC chair having been co-chair of Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign, along with the requirement of exclusivity to participate only in these sanctioned debates and no others, the timing of these few debates and so on.

Unsurprisingly, Trump, who livetweeted the debate, wasn’t a fan of what he heard.

Clinton supports in-state tuition for undocumented immigrants!

Top Democrats and activists were pretty pleased.

So a Latina Woman (or Hispanic per her comments) jumps on stage with Donald Trump to claim he’s 100% correct about immigration, a lovely man, and should be our next president… “Undocumented immigrants are human beings, are Americans in all but paperwork and should be formally welcomed into the American family”.

Because those jurisdictions are not going to “fix themselves” and the Obama administration remains inactive, Vaughan said, action falls on Congress.

Henry Muñoz, the DNC’s finance chair, said he loved the debate.
