Declaring the marriage over, Abedin said in a statement that she had chose to separate from Weiner “after long and painful consideration and work on my marriage”.

The New York Post published photographs and messages that the former congressman exchanged with a woman showing him shirtless and in bulging briefs with his four-year-old son asleep by his side.

“Anybody who’s been through any marital separation knows that that is a hard process in a divorce”, he said.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has suggested that Huma Abedin may have ties to terrorism even as he expressed sympathy for the top Hillary Clinton aide after she filed for separation from her husband.

The messages he had sent included a photograph purportedly showing Mr Weiner lying on a bed, a bulge in his trousers in the foreground of the frame, while the couple’s sleeping child was pictured next to him.

At that point, according to the Post, Weiner hit the send button. She also went to NY to interview job applicants for a top post at the foundation. More photos emerged in 2013, when he tried to make a political comeback by running for New York City mayor. The leaked photographs were intended for a woman in IN under the pseudonym “Carlos Danger”.

Weiner confessed to having undergone therapy after the first sexting scandal.

In this photo taken January 5, 2011, then-New York Rep. Anthony Weiner and his wife, Huma Abedin, an aide to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, are pictured after a ceremonial swearing in of the 112th Congress on Capitol Hill in Washington.

Campaign strategist Joel Benenson contended during an interview on CNN’s “New Day” that Trump’s suggestion Clinton was “careless and negligent” by allowing Weiner – who resigned from Congress after mistakenly tweeting an explicit image of himself – to be close to highly classified information is “another one of the outlandish things this man tosses about”.

“I know Anthony Weiner well, and she will be far better off without him”, Donadl Trump said. He’s a sick person and she has access to classified information.

“Who knows what he learned and who he told?” The longtime adviser to Clinton has known the Democratic presidential nominee since her days in the White House as first lady in the 1990s. After graduating, Abedin remained with Clinton as an aide during her tenure in the Senate, serving as an adviser on Middle East policy and developing a reputation as a workaholic.

“The longer she (Abedin) stays around, the more of a distraction it will be, the more stories will be written, the more blog commentary there will be”.
