Clinton backs the Buffett rule; Buffett backs Clinton

Buffett supported Clinton’s first Senate campaign in 2000, raised money for her presidential campaign in 2008 and later endorsed Obama and appeared at fundraisers for the president.

United States Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has accelerated her call for technology companies to cooperate with the government and develop a “unified national strategy in cyberspace” to stop the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) from using the Internet to recruit members in the USA and around the world. In both case, his public appearance with Clinton is aimed toward providing his stamp of approval to the Democrat’s economic message of inclusive capitalism & toughness against Wall Street excess.

“The Buffet Rule states that millionaires should pay at least 30% income tax rates instead of 10, 15, 20 and I want to go even further”, Clinton said to hundreds of supporters in the Sokol Auditorium in Omaha on Wednesday.

Clinton has said she will not raise taxes on married couples making more than $250,000 a year and has advocated higher taxes on the wealthy, recalling Obama’s push for the “Buffett rule” during the 2012 election.

Clinton, who said she wanted “to be the president for the struggling, the striving and the successful”, will roll out her full tax plan early next year, a campaign aide confirmed.

Buffett, the chairman of Berkshire Hathaway – commonly referred to as the oracle from Omaha – joined Clinton at her first event in Nebraska and hosted a fundraiser for her campaign before the rally.

“Now, if I really had a choice, I’d rather be president because I can’t sing”, Clinton said.

Clinton said she’d boost the economy by investing in infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, and combating climate change.

“Promising to carpet bomb until the desert glows doesn’t make you sound strong, it makes you sound like you are in over your head”, she added, referencing recent comments by Texas Sen.

Hillary Clinton is hoping that Warren Buffett’s reputation for picking winners extends well beyond the boardroom.

“I’m gonna fight hard to implement the Buffett Rule”, Clinton said Wednesday, in reference to that measure. While Buffett said he doesn’t condemn the rich, he said the odds were stacked in their favour. The Democratic super PAC expects to be the chief outside group supporting Clinton. The move carries real environmental risks and helps delay a move to renewable energy resources needed to handle the country’s climate and energy issues, she said. “My husband and I are head over heels insane about her”.
