Clinton Campaign on Trump Speech: ‘Teleprompter Regret’
Conway said her rise to campaign manager showed Trump valued a more policy-driven approach that would appeal to women and independent voters.

In a statement, Trump said Manafort offered his resignation Friday morning.
Wednesday’s shake-up comes with campaign chairman Paul Manafort, who has spent years lobbying for dictators, unsavory foreign clients and rogues, in the headlines in connection with a Ukrainian corruption investigation.
[CHARLOTTE, North Carolina] Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump apologised on Thursday for past remarks that “may have caused personal pain” as he sought to refocus his message in the face of falling opinion poll numbers in his first speech since shaking up his campaign team this week.
“I alone can fix” the broken and corrupt political system, he said, before declaring to the more than 32 million watching at home, “I am your voice”.
He added that, “Too much is at stake for us to be consumed with these issues”. “What you do is incredible, the risks you take and the danger”, Trump told about 50 police officers.
The remarks came as Trump makes significant changes to a campaign that has struggled since the Democratic and Republican nominating conventions from self-created distractions.
Now, with the candidate short on room for error, a gamble: Trump has brought in a new chief executive and campaign manager to right the ship.
Rarely do presidential campaigns wait to advertise, or undergo such leadership tumult, at such a late stage of the general election.
More broadly, Breitbart News has joined Trump in his broadsides against immigration and Muslims, and has become a clearinghouse for criticism of “globalism”, a trend that the news site has depicted as a means of destroying Western culture.
Donald Trump’s campaign has lined up its first advertisements of the general election cycle, spending nearly $5 million to target battleground states as they race to catch Hillary Clinton in the polls.
Trump’s campaign as of midday Thursday had secured about $4 million in television time in four states to air over the next 10 days: $1.4 million is reserved in Florida; $985,000 in Pennsylvania, $830,000 in North Carolina and $745,000 in OH, according to data from CMAG/Kantar Media, a company that tracks political advertising. The developments come less than three months before Election Day, and roughly six weeks before early voting begins. “Voters know if you’re comfortable in your own skin”. Although the speech – which he read from a teleprompter – was well received by many Republicans, it was largely overshadowed by news of his campaign restructuring.
“Donald Trump literally started his campaign by insulting people”, Clinton deputy communications director Christina Reynolds said in a statement”. “It lights a fire under us and reminds us what we need to do to get this done”.

He now trails Clinton in preference polls of most key battleground states. At the same time, party leaders have conceded they may divert resources away from the presidential contest in favor of vulnerable Senate and House candidates if things don’t improve. About one in five Clinton’s supporters think life has gotten worse and another 18 percent see little change.
