Clinton campaign pushes Democratic party stars to shore up youth vote

Michelle Obama dismissed Republican nominee Donald Trump as unstable and intolerant, and cautioned the 3,000 or so students assembled that they will put her husband’s legacy at risk if they stay home on election day. Of the 435 members of the House, he said, Teachout was poised to be “the most outstanding” of the bunch-“a leader at a time when we need leaders”. Mentioning Clinton’s name sparingly, Sanders told several hundred voters – many still wearing gear from the Democratic primary – that their votes could stop the election of a Republican “who thinks climate change is a hoax”.

On Saturday, both senators touted the benefits of Clinton’s platform for young people before audiences of mostly college students.

As well as reminding millennial voters in OH of the basics of Ms Clinton’s platform, Ms Sanders will also be urging them to register vote before a mid-October deadline. Even though it has been over a month since the Democratic National Convention, Sanders still had to make the case for why his supporters should vote for Hillary Clinton in November. After trailing for months, Trump has led the last three polls in oh and now leads in the Real Clear Politics average in the state. Sanders will be stumping Saturday in two of them: OH and Pennsylvania.

Clinton’s campaign also released a similar report about the former secretary of state’s well-being on Wednesday.

Trump has campaign events in Houston and Colorado Springs today. The Clinton campaign later said she had been diagnosed with pneumonia on Friday, but had not disclosed the condition publicly and only told a very few people.

“To be frank with you, I don’t think the Democratic Party has been anywhere as strong as it should be”, Sanders said. Sanders said that he understands that voters are “not enamored” with their choices, but emphasized the importance of looking “at the issues”.

The Barberton woman would have liked to hear Sanders.

Sen. Bernie Sanders addresses several hundred people, September 16, at Hasbrouck Park in New Paltz, N.Y., during a campaign rally for Democratic congressional candidate Zephyr Teachout.

“We gotta get beyond personality”, Sanders said.

“I think there are a lot of millennials who don’t think their votes matter”, she said, noting how the polls, the pundits and the media seem to pick winners before young minds are made up. Why nobody? She was anxious that if she so much as cast a vote it would be “stolen” by Clinton supporters at the polling location and converted into a Hillary vote; better to just stay home. I am inspired. For eight years, I have had the privilege to see what it actually takes to do this job. “I’ll answer that question at the right time”, he said.

The journey from Clinton primary foe to Clinton surrogate has been awkward for Sanders. Sticking to the issues, rather than engaging Trump in a tit-for-tat exchange of insults, will reinforce her strengths over Trump, he said. “I’m exhausted of voting for the lesser of two evils”, he said, although this was the first year he’d ever voted.
