Clinton campaign releases additional medical info

Hillary Clinton’s doctor on Wednesday pronounced her “healthy and fit” to serve as president, making a belated effort at transparency and hoping to contain political damage after the Democratic nominee was too weak to make it through a September 11 memorial service this weekend.

The former Secretary of State had a dizzy spell which forced her to leave a 9/11 ceremony in NY on Sunday and which also made her cancel campaign trips for three days, fueling suspicions that she’s dealing with some health issues.

“She continues to remain healthy and fit to serve as President of the United States”, said Dr. Lisa Bardarck, Clinton’s personal doctor.

Clinton’s official diagnosis was “a mild non-contagious bacterial pneumonia”, according to the letter. “In January of 2016, Mrs Clinton developed symptoms of sinusitis and an ear infection, which was treated with antibiotics and steroids”.

Clinton was diagnosed with pneumonia two days before she fainted on Sunday but her campaign team had kept it quiet until the video was put online. “The remainder of her complete physical exam was normal and she is in excellent mental condition”.

The episode added fuel to questions about Clinton’s health and provided a fresh line of attack for her Republican rival, Donald Trump, who has frequently questioned whether Clinton has the stamina to serve as commander in chief.

Her medications include medicine for an underactive thyroid, a blood thinner, an antihistamine (Clarinex) for seasonal allergies, and B-12 for mild anemia. Her blood pressure is 100/70, her cholesterol is 189 (LDL 103, HDL 56), for those keeping score at home.

Clinton’s campaign released an updated medical information.

The letter from Clinton’s doctor made no mention of her weight, a key part of any medical exam, nor did a similar letter released previous year.

Facing criticism about a lack of transparency when it comes to her health, Ms Clinton’s campaign promised to disclose more detailed information about her health this week.

Since then, Clinton’s dosage of Coumadin has “been adjusted as needed according to regular lab testing”, Bardack said.

Trump had another physical in recent days, and he went on the television set of celebrity doctor Mehmet Oz on Wednesday to disclose his new health records.

She is expected to return Thursday. The show is scheduled to be aired Thursday. In stark contrast, Donald Trump is hands down the least transparent presidential nominee in memory. The letter says Kaine is in “overall excellent health”, has never smoked and has “modest” alcohol use. He reportedly showed Oz a new letter from his doctor, Harold Bornstein, whose first over-the-top description of Trump’s health was widely mocked.

If Trump, 70, wins the November 8 election, he would be the oldest person to be elected US president.

Nationally, the Los Angeles Times/University of Southern California tracking poll showed Mr. Trump taking a 5-point lead in a head-to-head matchup, and a Quinnipiac survey showed Mrs. Clinton clinging to a 2-point lead in a four-way race – down substantially from late August. “His Doctor Oz charade is as completely unserious as his original joke of a letter written in five minutes. He continues to hide his taxes and business dealing behind fake excuses”.
