Clinton campaign releases additional medical records

Hillary Clinton’s campaign released additional information about the candidate’s health from her physician Wednesday, including more details about the pneumonia diagnosis that sidelined her for three days this week.

Dr. Lisa Bardack, the chair of internal medicine at CareMount Medical in Mount Kisco, New York, said Clinton went to see her on Friday, September 2, saying she’d been suffering from a low grade fever, congestion, and fatigue for one day.

Questions about the health of both candidates have been at the forefront of the campaign in recent days, after Ms Clinton was caught on camera struggling to walk as she left a 9/11 memorial event in NY on Sunday.

Her campaign said Clinton has “mild, non-contagious bacterial pneumonia”, and is being treated with an antibiotic called Levaquin, prescribed for 10 days.

Meanwhile, Trump taped an episode of the “Dr. Oz Show” Wednesday during which he discussed the results of a recent physical exam in an episode to be aired on Thursday.

Speaking at a rally in Ohio, Trump began needling Clinton over her “stamina”, an issue he has raised for months.

It’s tight race between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, with both candidates fighting to win the confidence of voters as the first presidential debate looms only two weeks away.

Clinton’s doctor also declared her “fit to serve” as president. It took several hours for her personal physician to disclose she had been diagnosed with pneumonia two days earlier, raising tough questions about her campaign’s transparency. When she visited Bardack a week later, she underwent a CT scan that revealed a “small right middle lobe pneumonia”.

The latest New York Times/CBS news poll, released yesterday, indicates 44 per cent of likely voters would support Mrs Clinton, while 43 per cent would support Mr Trump.

Clinton has failed to provide the public access to her full medical records, but her opponent 70-year-old Donald Trump has been even more opaque even though he would be the oldest first-term president ever elected.

Clinton conceded this week she ignored her doctor’s advice after the Friday diagnosis, which was to modify her schedule.

The former Secretary of State also had a normal mammogram and breast ultrasound, said the doctor.

Hillary Clinton returned to the campaign trail Thursday after taking time off to recover from pneumonia.

Dr Bardack said Mrs Clinton’s vital signs remained normal.

Trump has not, however, released the same depth of medical details. The letter says Kaine is in “overall excellent health”, has never smoked and has “modest” alcohol use.
