Clinton campaign rips the Trump Foundation over alleged ‘illegal campaign donations’

“She’s a fine person beyond reproach”, Trump said of Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, a prominent supporter in the Sunshine State.

When Bondi’s group attempted to return the money, the foundation rejected it and cited the fact that Trump, instead, had made a $25,000 donation from his personal account to the Trump Foundation in order to resolve the matter.

Oh, also, it turns out that the Trump Foundation itself was part of a setup to ensure that Trump’s own money was never used to finance a Trump charitable contribution. Ultimately, she decided not to pursue the case any further.

The September 1 Post article reported that the Donald J. Trump Foundation had “violated tax laws” with a $25,000 political contribution to Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, who at the time was deciding whether or not to take action against Trump University. “I never spoke to her about that”.

The story would have disappeared, if the Washington Post and the watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) did not spotlight the Trump organization’s misconduct.

“It was just an honest mistake”, Jeffrey McConney, a senior vice president at the Trump Organization, told The Post on Thursday.

Comparing the Trump Foundation with the Clinton Foundation, chief spokesperson Palmieri said the Clinton Foundation makes “AIDS and malaria drugs more accessible”, with the accusation of “laundering illegal campaign donations”.

As the Post explains, the issue “began when Bondi herself solicited a donation from Trump”.
