Ms Clinton’s departure from the event was not witnessed by the reporters who travel with her campaign and aides provided no information about why she left or her whereabouts for almost two hours. No word yet on how Clinton’s diagnosis will impact her campaign schedule.

He declined to say anything Sunday, keeping a pledge not to campaign on the 15th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terror attacks. She staggers and appears to trip on a curb as they help her into a vehicle.

Five hours later, though, her doctor revealed that she had been diagnosed with pneumonia on Friday.

The statement says Clinton became overheated at the 9/11 event and dehydrated, but is now rehydrated. He said he was standing behind her during the remembrance and “she did not seem out of the ordinary at all”.

Clinton walked out of daughter Chelsea Clinton’s apartment on her own and made only a brief comment to the reporters waiting outside, saying “It’s a handsome day in NY”.

After leaving her daughter’s, Ms Clinton was driven to her home in Chappaqua, New York, and made no public appearances. Spokesman Nick Merrill eventually said Clinton had gone to her daughter’s nearby apartment, but refused to say whether the former secretary of state had required medical attention. The journalists who travel with her campaign were not there to witness her arrival. Shortly after, she was seen walking out of it. Wearing sunglasses, she paused to take a photo with a young girl before getting into her motorcade.

Video taken at the scene and posted on social media shows Clinton being held up by three people.

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, second from right, departs after attending a ceremony at the Sept. 11 memorial, in New York, Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, on the 15th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

In a telephone interview, Rep. Joe Crowley of NY told The Associated Press that at one point, he saw what he thought was a staff member tap Clinton on her shoulder.

“I’m feeling great”, Clinton said.

“We were begging for some kind of wind”, Crowley added.

A video posted on Twitter shows Hillary Clinton from behind held closely by a member of her staff, before slumping and being helped into a waiting van as she leaves the 9/11 memorial service in NY.

Schumer said he also spoke with Clinton during the event and saw her leave “on her own accord.”?

The Democratic presidential nominee walked out of her daughter Chelsea’s apartment in Manhattan just before noon on Sunday. The weather was warm and humid in NY on Sunday, and there was a breeze at the crowded memorial plaza during the ceremony.

The stumble plays into the rhetoric of Republican Donald Trump, who has accused Clinton without evidence of lacking “stamina” and whose campaign has pushed unsubstantiated theories about videos of her laughing and coughing. “Hillary Clinton’s health just became a real issue in the presidential campaign”.

Clinton’s campaign initially said she merely “felt overheated” at the ceremony, where she had been for 90 minutes, and was “feeling much better” after she rested at her daughter’s apartment.
