Clinton Defends Against Sanders and Trump

“I think the surprising part is there are no more options for the Republican party at this point”, KWWL Political Analyst Chris Larimer said.

In a new CNN/ORC poll, 54 percent of registered voters said they’d choose Clinton in a matchup against Trump.

Sanders needs to win 66% of remaining pledged delegates to secure a majority of those delegates.

With a decisive victory in the in primary Tuesday, the billionaire businessman who was initially ridiculed as a fringe candidate was declared the party’s presumptive nominee by Republican National Chairman Committee Reince Priebus. He contended that Democrats do well when turnout is high and that Republicans do poorly when turnout is high.

Bernie Sanders won the in primary by a slim margin last night, just 52 percent of the vote, yet immediately after announcing his victory, CNN was already hounding the Democratic candidate to drop out of the race.

Democrats choose Clinton over Trump 94 percent to 5 percent, while Republicans prefer Trump to Clinton 84 percent to 12 percent.

Around half of Clinton general-election supporters told CNN/ORC their vote wouldn’t be so much for Clinton as against Trump. “If he wants to go back to the playbook of the 1990s, if he wants to follow in the footsteps of those who have tried to knock me down and take me out of the political arena, I’m more than happy to have him do that”.

Trump won almost 6 in 10 voters over 45 and a similar percentage of those without a college degree.

For his part, Donald Trump has spent months flip-flopping on whether or not he would run as an Independent if he didn’t get the Republican nomination, calling the Republican system “corrupt” and “rigged”.

“Educated, suburban white women are turned off en masse and there will be more of that”, Ohio Sen. In the past, he has criticized the superdelegate system as undemocratic and his supporters often say these free-floating delegates give Clinton, the establishment-backed candidate, an unfair advantage.

Clinton’s visit to the Golden State Thursday coincides with Cinco de Mayo, the annual celebration of Mexican culture and heritage.

“We’re going after Hillary Clinton”, he said. The statement they released following Sanders’ victory in IN didn’t even mention Bernie once.

As Cruz’s fortunes soured Tuesday night, the Sanders campaign appeared to gain new energy with a surprise win over Clinton in Indiana.

Voters from both parties say the economy was weighing heavily on their minds as they headed to the polls.

But Indiana awards delegates on the Democratic side proportionately. “We are in this race to win”, responded the Democratic underdog. “Today, Indiana voters had another idea”.

The number included one-quarter of Catholics and one-third of moderates, according to the survey by the Democracy Corps’ Republican Party Project.
