Asked if she had, in fact, fainted as she got in her van to leave, Clinton said no.

“I wish so much I could be there”, Clinton added.

Trump, meanwhile, set aside his recent digs at Clinton’s health and told Fox that he hopes “she gets well and gets back on the trail and we’ll be seeing her at the debate”.

“I think the president’s belief that she’d be an excellent president of the United States is something that you’ve heard him say many times”. I felt dizzy and I did lose my balance for a minute. On CNBC, he said he took no satisfaction in her problems. “I’m aware of it and usually can avoid it”, she told CNN. “It’s a handsome day in NY”. “Right? The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic – you name it”, she said, before stressing that other Trump supporters are frustrated and need sympathy.

Trump on Monday criticized Clinton for saying last week that half of his supporters are “deplorables”.

Late on Sunday evening, she cancelled a California campaign trip scheduled for early this week.

But she has instead been resting at home in Chappaqua, New York. Former President Bill Clinton will fill in for his wife on Tuesday at two fundraisers in Los Angeles, per an aide, as well as on Wednesday in Las Vegas.

“There was a lot made of John McCain’s age and health and he released thousands of pages of health records, and opened them up to the media, which ultimately served him well in disavowing folks of the notion that he wasn’t physically fit, ” Kurantowicz said.

Questions about the incident reinforced the perception of Mrs Clinton as secretive, a view fueled by the controversy surrounding her use of a private email server while serving as president Barack Obama’s secretary of state from 2009 to 2013.

“I think the larger concern is the. speaking in code that Donald Trump is engaging in”, he said. Trump alleged that the goal of Clinton is to “bully the American voter” out of voting for change.

Major fall or just a stumble?

“We have got to work to heal the divides in our country”, Clinton told donors.

Democrats said Trump was a hypocrite for talking about himself as a uniter when he’s run a racially charged campaign.

In phone-in television interviews on Monday morning, Mr Trump was uncharacteristically subdued about Mrs Clinton’s health issues.

Presidential campaigns go through great efforts to portray their candidate as healthy and full of vigour, while presidents who had health troubles concealed their weaknesses.

Mrs Clinton’s pneumonia disclosure was made public hours after her campaign said she had become “overheated” to explain why, her knees buckling and unsteady, she was rushed from the September 11th ceremony.

Will Clinton pay for her bad weekend?

Clinton’s doctor diagnosed her with pneumonia on Friday, but she didn’t admit it until after the incident at Ground Zero led to widespread speculation about her health status.
