Clinton dismisses ‘surreal’ Republican national convention

Donald Trump has secured the Republican nomination for United States president on day two of the Republican National Convention.

“I’m going to fight for every vote in this state, in every part of this state and with your help, we are going to win this state”, Clinton said.

In a speech at the Republican National Convention on Tuesday, Christie barely mentioned the man he was there to support, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

Playing off the crowd at one point, Christie replied, “Alright, alright, we’re getting there”.

“We can not promote someone to commander in chief who has made the world a more violent and unsafe place”, Christie said.

An outspoken Clinton critic, he is expected to focus his remarks on criticism of her, over praise for Trump, with whom he repeatedly sparred in the GOP primary on deeply personal terms.

She also announced a plethora of union-backed events, including voter registration drives, in the coming weeks.

Saying that because “the Justice Department refused to prosecute her”, that he would prosecute her Tuesday night in Cleveland with the audience being the jury. “The FBI Director said that was untrue”, he said. Comey may have exonerated her of misusing classified information, but he made a strong case for lying under oath. The FBI Director said that was untrue.

But that didn’t stop the former secretary of state from repeating earlier endorsements from some of the presenters who had harsh words for her.

Mrs Clinton is being probed for using a private e-mail server to handle sensitive government documents while serving as secretary of state, something the Federal Bureau of Investigation said was careless but not criminal.

Christie, presumingly for the objective of the present moment, did not mention Clinton’s role in building an global coalition that imposed crippling sanctions on Iran.

Christie ended his own White House run in February and was rumored to be on Trump’s vice presidential short list.
