Clinton economy speech to focus on valuing people with disabilities
The incident at the gay club just south of downtown Orlando killed 49 people and injured more than 50.

After briefly discussing the Charlotte shooting, Clinton changed gears and talked about her economic policy. Men tend to lean toward Trump with women favoring Clinton, he added. “She has shown me that every ounce and aspect of myself is a strength that can be used to change the world”.
Clinton’s campaign and Democrats view Trump’s attacks on New York Times reporter Serge Kovaleski, whose arthrogryposis impairs the movements in her arm, as their most effective character attack against the Republican nominee.
Trump visited OH on Wednesday, including a trip to a black church as he continues his efforts to appeal to African-American voters.
In reflecting on the recent shootings of African-Americans by police and the recent targeting of police in other parts of the country, Clinton promised to help the country heal if she is elected. “It’s unbearable, and it needs to become intolerable”, Clinton said.
“I’ve spoken to many police chiefs and law enforcement officers who are as deeply concerned as I am, and deeply committed, as I am, to reform”, she said. But then she moved quickly to the message of the day, one she hopes will turn around her sagging favorability numbers and gin up enthusiasm among her supporters to turn out for her, not just against Trump. Clinton mentioned how 1 in 5 Americans were disabled and how many of them were working in all areas of the economy with skills dreams and talents like all Americans.
In Charlotte, North Carolina, on Tuesday, 43-year-old Keith Lamont Scott was fatally shot by Charlotte police officer Brentley Vinson. Another man accused of planting bombs in New York City and New Jersey injured 29 people before he was taken into custody after a gun battle with police.
“This issue is very close to my heart”, Clinton said. In New Hampshire in February, she deviated from a planned focus on the economy to invoke the many disabled people she had met on the campaign trail who were seeking greater job opportunities.
Clinton was introduced at the event by Anastasia Somoza, who is living with cerebral palsy and spoke during this year’s Democratic National Convention in Cleveland.
Val Demings, the former Orlando police chief and Democratic candidate for U.S Congressional District 10, praised Clinton’s work as a young woman in SC and Alabama on behalf of African-Americans. “Put his hand on the vehicle – to me, it looked like he did everything you’re supposed to do”, Trump said during a campaign event in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.
Underscoring how pivotal a state Florida will be in the upcoming general election, Clinton interrupted her preparations for Monday’s presidential debate against Republican Donald Trump to reach out to voters with disabilities and their families.
“We are safer when communities respect the police and police respect the communities”, she said.
Clinton suggested she could build on Bush’s work.
The Democratic presidential candidate will speak at 2 p.m.at Frontline Outreach Youth and Family Center, in the Washington Shores neighborhood of Orlando.
The Democratic presidential nominee said the disabled are “a group of Americans who are, too often, invisible, overlooked and undervalued – who have so much to offer, but are given far too few chances to prove it”.
