Clinton Foundation may have been hacked

Reuters said one of their sources and two us security officials told them the hackers used “spear phishing” techniques to get access to the foundation’s systems.

Bill and Hillary Clinton’s New York-based charity was reportedly suspected of being hacked, causing the couple and their business partners to employ the cyber-security firm, according to Reuters.

As People’s Pundit Daily previously reported, Attorney General Loretta Lynch at least twice refused a referral from the Federal Bureau of Investigation to further probe the Democratic presidential candidate and others at the Clinton Foundation on charges of public corruption. If the foundation’s donors are truly motivated by altruism, and not by the lure of access to the Clintons, then surely they can find other ways to support the foundation’s goals. Officials with FireEye said the company could not discuss its clients.

The U.S. officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Reuters that the hackers used similar techniques Russian intelligence agencies or their proxies used against the Democrat groups, which might suggest that Russians also targeted the Clinton Foundation. Kremlin officials dismissed as absurd the allegations of Moscow’s involvement, which were made last month amid political party nominating conventions for the November 8 election.

“Although the charity founded by former President Bill Clinton has done admirable work over the last 15 years, the Clinton Foundation is also now clearly a liability for Hillary Clinton as she seeks the presidency in 2016”, the editorial board argued Tuesday.

One of the major products of the email debate was the rise of concerns over whether Clinton Foundation donors were given access to the State Department. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee convened a closed-door meeting on Wednesday to discuss best cyber security practices.

The Clinton Foundation said it does not have a record of the TAQA donation, but March 2012 emails showed foundation officials pressing Clinton’s former chief of staff Cheryl Mills for approval. She promised to maintain a separation between her official work and the foundation, but recently released emails written by staffers during her State Department tenure to make clear that the supposed partition was far from impregnable.
