“The continued flow of foreign donations to the Clintons’ network of foundations while Hillary Clinton runs for the presidency is unacceptable, and every contribution from overseas only further compromises her ability to serve”.
Bill Clinton is planning a foundation fundraiser Friday at the Rainbow Room in NY but Shalala said she had vetted the guest list.
Hillary Clinton and Trump are locked in intense contest for the Silver State’s six electoral votes, with recent polls showing a statistical dead heat and both making regular campaign stops.
Battleground states such as OH and Florida are no longer considered likely wins for the Democratic nominee, according to the Reuters/Ipsos States of the Nation project released on Saturday.
In a major economic address in NY on Thursday, Trump said if elected he would set a national goal of achieving a 4 percent economic growth annual, which he said would create 25 million new jobs.
Turnout remains a critical question, however, and it is unclear whether this year’s election will energize Hispanic Americans here and elsewhere to vote at higher rates than in previous years, when fewer than half cast ballots.
“Are you going to be a pawn in a game played by people who are just looking for tomorrow’s story?” he said.
Bill Clinton stood in for his wife Hillary at a Las Vegas rally, saying the Democratic presidential candidate was “feeling great” and would likely be back on the campaign trail on Thursday. It also interrupted a series of speeches in which she had planned to refocus her campaign on what she would do for the country after a period when she attacked Trump as a risky, unprepared candidate. Clinton was last in the state late last month, delivering a blistering speech in Reno detailing Trump’s ties to the alt right, a movement she said is inspired by racism and other dark forces. Democrats here express confidence that once those voters fully tune into the race they will side with Clinton.
Clinton’s pneumonia diagnosis came at inopportune time for the former secretary of state, who spent the bulk of August fundraising in wealthy US enclaves such as the Hamptons and Martha’s Vineyard, with only intermittent campaign events.
On Wednesday, Clinton released a letter from her physician, Dr. Lisa Bardack, to dispel rumours about her health.
