“The University of Miami family is keeping former president Donna Shalala in our thoughts”. They integrated, “We will carry to share their modifications as understood more”. The 74-year-old Shalala was stricken last night after a meeting in New York of the Clinton Global Initiative.
Ms. Shalala, 74, fell ill after departing the closing events around the Clinton Global Initiative, which was held at the Sheraton New York hotel on Seventh Avenue in Manhattan, according to a statement from foundation officials. Initial reports on her status are ‘encouraging’.
“Fortunately, she was with colleagues at the time and taken to the hospital for treatment”, the statement said.
UM’s President Julio Frenk, who took over for Shalala’s position in September, issued a statement wishing her a full recovery.
Earlier this year, she joined the Clinton Foundation, becoming the leader of the nonprofit organization, according to CNN.
