Clinton Fundraises Off Christie’s ‘Witch Trial’ of Hillary
So far, numerous speakers at the convention have devoted more time to denouncing presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. Three-quarters of voters in the poll said their pick for president is motivated by a desire to cast their ballot against either Clinton or Trump.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz’s name wasn’t formally placed in nomination even though he was closest to Trump in the primaries.
Tiffany Trump, like her stepmother the night before, lacked specific anecdotes to project the qualities of warmth and generosity she described in her father. But this election is not just about Donald Trump.
Washington delegate Teri Galvez said baldly: “We do not support Donald Trump”. “This is a nation where every coin in our pockets and every bill in our wallet says, ‘In God We Trust.’ So are we willing to elect someone as president who has as their role model somebody who acknowledges Lucifer?”.
The Washington Post reported that Christie’s absence from New Jersey past year while he was campaigning for president, his frequent departures now to campaign for Trump and looming headaches from the Bridgegate scandal have sent his approval rating sinking to an all-time low of 29%.
Take the New York City factor away, though, and Trump leads Clinton in Upstate New York by a 48-to-36 margin.
The campaign chairman also upended Republicans’ unity message by slamming Ohio Gov. John Kasich in his home state.
Perhaps there was no more fitting way to announce the elevation of the latest Republican standard-bearer, the real-estate mogul who confesses to being a bit “braggadocious” and whose rise has roiled the party establishment and turned conventional wisdom on its head.
The Senate GOP leader’s main argument was essentially that while President Obama vetoed Republican priorities like repealing health care reform and cutting spending, Trump would approve their legislation. It closes Thursday night when Trump, a NY real estate developer, will accept the nomination.
Trump also strongly considered picking Christie as his running mate before deciding on Indiana Gov. Mike Pence.
On the convention floor, states from Alabama to West Virginia took it in turns to pledge their delegates.

Trump’s campaign offered no apologies, with top adviser Paul Manafort telling The Associated Press the matter had been “totally blown out of proportion”.
Having the high-profile ex-prosecutor as an ally – he’s leading the transition team that will assemble a potential Trump presidential administration – validates Trump’s recent claim that he’s the “law and order” candidate following the death of five Dallas police officers during a peaceful rally. The night did not contain any distractions such as the plagiarism charge against Melania Trump.
“When you pull back the curtain, it was just Donald Trump with nothing to offer to the American people”, Clinton said during a speech in Las Vegas. “I love my family”.
But Colorado’s Kendal Unruh, a leader of the anti-Trump forces, called the convention a “sham” and warned party leaders that their efforts to silence opposition would keep some Republicans on the sidelines in the fall campaign against Clinton.
Christie, like numerous speakers last night, spent about 10 times more of his presentation talking about Clinton than talking about Trump.
“As to Hillary Clinton, putting herself ahead of America, guilty or not guilty?”

Earlier in the day, Christie also sought to defuse some of the controversy surrounding Trump’s wife Melania’s speech Monday night and accusations that two of the passages were lifted almost word-for-word from a speech that first lady Michelle Obama delivered in 2008 at the Democratic National Convention.
