The newspaper, which called Hillary Clinton the only “serious candidate on the presidential ballot in November”, noted it was breaking from a record of endorsing Republicans that has stood for more than 75 years – since before World War II.

Donald Trump, as is his wont, lied repeatedly during Wednesday’s town hall hosted by NBC, which featured both the Republican and Democratic candidates in back-to-back appearances.
The forum, which was moderated by Matt Lauer, was a preview into how the candidates will handle themselves in the upcoming presidential debate September 26.
Clinton said the Iraq vote and the email server were both mistakes, but insisted that she had never sent or received material with a classified header on her private server. It is also part of a national cable advertising campaign. Here are five important moments from that hour.

Clinton had begun the day on the offensive, by convening a press conference with reporters on the tarmac of Westchester County Airport before she and her traveling press corps were set to take off to North Carolina. Clinton noted that Trump said so many outrageous things that it might be hard for journalists to know where to begin criticizing him.
“The attractive part of getting along, Russian Federation wants to defeat ISIS as badly as we do”, he continued.
Jason Miller, Trump’s senior communications director, issued a statement denouncing Clinton’s remarks as “desperate attacks of a flailing campaign sinking in the polls, and characteristics of someone woefully unfit for the presidency of the United States”.
Then, on Friday, the Clinton campaign rolled out more endorsements, with a news release titled, “Number of Generals and Admirals Backing Clinton Grows to 110 After Forum”. “The generals have been reduced to rubble”, Trump said. I have great faith in certain of the commanders, certainly.

“I have a substantial chance of winning, but if I win I don’t want to broadcast” the plan, Trump said.
