Clinton Has Much To Do To Win Over Voters

Hillary Clinton, the first woman to represent a major United States political party as its presidential nominee, evokes strong feelings, even on America’s political left.

But the online world buzzed for another reason Wednesday morning when it noticed some publications’ approach to the front-page news.

“I am probably still going to pick the flowers and the china for state dinners”, Hillary Clinton said in a December primary debate.

“I can tell you this: if you were sitting where I’m sitting and you hear what I have heard at every dinner conversation, every lunch conversation and on every long walk, you would say this is woman has never been satisfied with the status quo on anything”.

Whereas Trump and Bill Clinton cast themselves as the agents of major change, Hillary Clinton’s vow is to build on the “progress” of the previous administration. (“In the spring of 1971, I met a girl.”) He listed off her civil rights bona fides, but as a sign that she cared passionately about other people.

The omission of the nominee by many major outlets sparked controversy online, with many questioning both the motivation and news judgement behind it.

In the Tuesday night address, Bill Clinton detailed how Hillary Clinton led task forces to improve public education, rural healthcare and founded the Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters, or HIPPY, program.

Like many Sanders diehards, Iasella isn’t all that concerned with the fallout should Republican Donald Trump defeat Clinton in November.

Nash first served as an economic advisor to Governor Clinton.

“Although we weren’t able to shatter that highest, hardest glass ceiling this time, it’s got about 18 million cracks in it”, Clinton said then as she bowed out of the race.

“It’s actually going to unfold into a role that’s not too dissimilar from the one he’s been playing for 16 years as a former president”, Anthony said, adding that first ladies have historically avoided partisan issues.

“The place where she’s really struggling in terms of polls is the credible, trustworthy, honest thing, because the email scandal continues to plague her”, Kall said. And, perhaps most importantly, she has the inimitable gift of hindsight.

JUDY WOODRUFF: Author Rebecca Traister describes Clinton’s college years as a political transformation, from her roots in this conservative Chicago suburb.

“Simple proof of enduring sexism: no Hillary, or even a woman, on the front page after 1st woman nominated president”, tweeted Anne Helen Petersen, a features writer for BuzzFeed News.

“She doesn’t understand trade”, Trump said.

“When she was a young attorney, I appointed her to the Legal Services Corporation, where [in 1978] she became the first woman chair”, he said. “He made it sound like it was no big deal, which apparently to him it wasn’t because he was seeing plenty of other women at the time as he always did, including throughout their engagement and their marriage”.

Many people began heading for the Wells Fargo Center exits as soon as Bill Clinton wrapped up his remarks.

And when he suggested that she go into politics, she replied: “Are you out of your mind?” Since launching her bid last summer, the Democratic nominee has cycled through a series of slogans: “Fighting for Us”, “Breaking Down Barriers” and, most recently, “Stronger Together”.

But, said Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta, “This is different”.

That journey from national ticket to pariah in six short years underscores how far and fast the Dems went left after Bill Clinton left office.

It’s an argument he’s been making as he cross-crosses the country on the campaign trail.
