Clinton: ‘I’m feeling great’; was ‘overheated’ at 9/11 event

US Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has appeared to faint as she prematurely left the 9/11 memorial service in NY.

Clinton’s doctor said the 68-year-old former secretary of state “became overheated and dehydrated” at the 9/11 ceremony at ground zero.

Former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani, a Trump supporter, has said that Clinton was “tired” and “looked sick”.

Clinton has been experiencing a cough related to allergies that gained attention last Monday, when she had a coughing fit at the start of a campaign event. Several hours later, her campaign revealed she had been diagnosed with pneumonia on Friday and advised to rest.

“During the ceremony, she felt overheated so departed to go to her daughter’s apartment, and is feeling much better”.

“Questions about her health were residing in the fever swamps of the conservative media in the last few months, even though I think there were sufficient reasons to ask questions and seek real answers”, said GOP consultant Matt Mackowiak.

A video posted online appeared to show the 68-year-old wobbling on her feet as she was helped into a van to be taken to her daughter’s NY apartment. Two Secret Service agents then held on to her arms and helped her get into the vehicle.

The cancellation comes after hours of uncertainty, where her aides were unclear with press whether she would be able to carry on with a planned West Coast fundraising trip on Monday and Tuesday after a medical emergency she experienced during the September 11 commemoration event in NY on Sunday. She then was driven to her home in Chappaqua, N.Y., where her doctor performed an examination.

Add in the possibility of fever, shortness of breath or other possible symptoms from pneumonia, and you have a constellation of factors that could have explained her feeling weak on Sunday, she said.

Robert Gibbs, President Obama’s first White House press secretary, said it was time for Clinton and Trump to give reporters more access.

But any loss of valuable days on the campaign trail could juxtapose poorly against an aggressively campaigning Trump.

According to her campaign, Clinton had a rest in her daughter’s apartment in Manhattan.

She and opposing candidate Donald Trump both attended the morning service to mark 15 years on from the September 11 attacks, with Trump remaining after she had left.

But the businessman, his spokespeople and surrogates have promoted the idea in recent weeks that Clinton has serious health problems.

The root of the claims lies in 2012, when Clinton was nearing the end of her stint as secretary of state and a stomach virus and dehydration prompted her to faint, causing what her doctor said was a concussion.

They said they found a blood clot on the brain and Clinton temporarily suffered from double vision. She was later given the all-clear.

“This comes less than a week after Clinton had a coughing fit at a rally in Cleveland”.

Dr. William Schaffner, an infectious disease expert at Vanderbilt University, said that based on the available information, “this should not in any way impede her function going forward”. It was dismissed by her aides as allergies and by Clinton herself at that moment as stemming from “talking so much”. “She has to be at tons of events and seem very energetic”, Lawless said. “Thank you very much”, as she smiled, waved and got into her vehicle.
