Clinton: I regret saying ‘half’ Trump support from ‘basket of deplorables’
Trump’s comment was reminiscent of a statement he made earlier in the year, when he suggested he could shoot somebody and not lose any supporters.

In seizing upon the comments, Trump used the opportunity to do some fundraising as well.
Just as Trump was repeatedly underestimated during the Republican primaries, his aides say he is again being underestimated heading into the general election. “Friends don’t let friends vote for Trump”.
Trump is expected to speak at the Catholic service for Schlafly, who died Monday at the age of 92.
“And what’s truly deplorable isn’t just that Hillary Clinton made an inexcusable mistake in front of wealthy donors and reporters happened to be around to catch it, it’s that Clinton revealed just how little she thinks of the hard-working men and women of America”. And unfortunately, there are people like that and he has lifted them up.
Hillary Clinton is drawing criticism after saying that half of Donald Trump’s supporters belong in a “basket of deplorables” at a private fundraiser.
On Saturday afternoon, Clinton released a statement that stopped short of an apology but said it was “never a good idea” to speak in generalities about candidates’s supporters. Clinton had some nice things to say about the other so-called “basket” of supporters.
The remarks came at an LGBT-focused fundraiser in New York City that included appearances by Laverne Cox and Barbra Streisand.
“Now is the time to show Hillary the consequences of her words”, Trump’s campaign wrote in an appeal to supporters.
Clinton stressed the rest of Trump’s supporters feel let down by the government and economy.
Trump’s running mate, Mike Pence, forcefully condemned Clinton “in the strongest possible terms” Saturday at the Values Voter Summit in Washington. The former secretary of state added that “some of those folks, they are irredeemable, but thankfully they are not America”.
The images of U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump are seen painted on decorative pumpkins. “Right?” Clinton said, per The Post’s Abby Phillip.
Schlafly died Monday at age 92.
“Just days after the war started, I was quoted as saying the war is a mess”, Trump said, calling it “more evidence that I had opposed the war from the start”.
“She gave an entire speech about how the alt right movement is using his campaign to advance its hate movement”, Nick Merrill said.
Hillary Clinton issued a statement that she “regrets” saying half of Donald Trump supporters are “deplorable” – but she stopped short of apologizing for her comment.
And it will take a lot of work by both Trump and Clinton to win these voters over. “Being told you or the people you know are racist and misogynistic may not be the way to bring them into the fold”.

Ms. Clinton then pivoted and tried to characterise the other half of Mr. Trump’s supporters, putting them in “that other basket” and saying they need understanding and empathy.
