For those who know Sen. Hillary Clinton and her newly named running mate Tim Kaine stumped in the key battleground state of Florida.

In the two decades that followed, Kaine rose through the political ranks to serve as Virginia’s lieutenant governor, governor and US senator. He advocated gun control in a state where the National Rifle Association has its headquarters.

The decision drew cheers from liberal groups and labor leaders. Sanders’ supporters say they are concerned that Kaine is not progressive enough. The billionaire businessman unleashed a barrage of attacks against Clinton in light of the latest scandal to overshadow her run for office, accusing her of disloyalty for not protecting outgoing Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz following the release of hacked emails that suggest some DNC staffers favored Clinton over Sanders.

And Vice President Joe Biden will hold his first campaign rally for Clinton in Scranton next month. Elizabeth Warren was high on that list as we witnessed Warren campaign hard for Clinton.

Scott is considered a likely candidate to replace Tim Kaine if he wins the vice presidency.

Hours before she was to gavel in the Democratic National Convention, the Florida congresswoman was met by raucous activists who accused her of favoring Hillary Clinton over vanquished rival Bernie Sanders. And he’s also seen as a business-friendly Democrat, which is true because he was a governor and most governors have more business-friendly views on how to govern.

Virginia has 13 electoral votes. I’m telling you, and they’re going to attempt to make Donald Trump look irrational and insane. Kaine told reporters Thursday, the day before he was picked to be Clinton’s running mate. How much difference Kaine will make is anyone’s guess.

On the hacked emails, Clinton’s campaign manager, Robby Mook, tried to shift blame away from DNC officials to “Russian state actors” who, he said, may have hacked into DNC computers “for the objective of helping Donald Trump, ” the Republican presidential nominee.

Kaine’s voting record while in the Senate has also become subject to scrutiny and has started to cut against his reputation as a centrist.

Some (including Kaine himself) say he is boring. “He will fight tooth and nail for American families, and he’ll be a dogged fighter in our campaign”, Clinton said in a letter to supporters Friday night.

But now “there’s a growing emphasis on more adversarial relationships with large institutions”, including Wall Street firms and large corporations, he said. Kaine’s enthusiasm for abortion recently took the form of co-sponsorship of the so-called “Women’s Health Protection Act” (S.217), known to pro-lifers as the “Abortion Without Limits Until Birth Act”.

It seems that the criticisms are sticking out more than the intended positives. Trade is one of Donald Trump’s signature issues and has helped him become the Republican nominee. The convention will offer a window into how enthusiastic – or not – liberal Democrats will be toward the ticket. He went to Honduras fighting for civil rights. “A willingness to take on the corporate establishment is essential to this election”, he said.

But they say what’s most appealing is that he’s not wedded to a political life.

Kaine is a swing state lawmaker with extensive governing experience – as a former governor, lieutenant governor and Richmond mayor.

#3. Somehow Kaine will cut into Clinton’s massive deficit among white men.

First lady Michelle Obama stepped into the presidential election Monday with a forceful, impassioned defense of Hillary Clinton, casting her as the only candidate who can be trusted as a role model for the nation’s children.

Elleithee and others point to several defining moments in Kaine’s career that speak to his progressive values. “There are a lot of religious conservatives, there is a lot of economic hardship, and there are a lot of people susceptible to the message that things are not as good as they have been in southwest Virginia”. As governor, he did allow executions to continue but vetoed bills seeking to expand the application of the death penalty.

Like Gov. Mike Pence of IN, the Republican vice-presidential nominee, Mr. Kaine, at his core, is a man of deep religious faith.

It now takes 2,382 delegates to formally clinch the nomination.

In that position, which LeBlanc described as a workforce development “czar”, he was able to work in areas closer to his expertise.

He was also the chair of the Democratic National Committee from 2009 to 2011. During the 2008 presidential cycle, he was the first governor outside of IL to endorse Barack Obama.
