Clinton, Kaine Say They Won’t Emulate Trump-Style Name-Calling
Clinton ultimately chose Tim Kaine as her VP, but the process was extensive for him and the other finalists. But convention delegates pledged to Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders that the Florida congresswoman had tilted the scales in favor of Hillary Clinton.

Clinton announced her selection via text message Friday evening. Kaine is a former governor and missionary from a battleground state who is fluent in Spanish. Martinez also says Kaine seems to have a lot of charisma.
Luckily Clinton has Elizabeth Warren for those times when she really needs to sling some mud.
Kaine, for his part, described himself as a “utility player”.
Sanders, who has endorsed Clinton, encouraged his supporters to vote for the ticket, saying the top priority in the November election is to defeat Trump. “I think right now every Hispanic is paying close attention because it scares us that Donald Trump could win”, Villacorta said.
“We arrived here in Philadelphia with the most inclusive and progressive platform the party has ever proposed and a unified recommendation from the Rules Committee on our path forward as Democrats”. She cited Kaine’s support for the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement as a disappointment. She would have been happier with Sen.
“I often feel like there’s the Hillary standard and then there’s the standard for everybody else”, she said.
“But I think he’ll make a fine running mate with Hillary”, he said. Clinton reiterated that she set it up because “it was recommended that it would be convenient, and I thought it would be”. “In my opinion they were rigged, especially in NY”. “Yeah, they are. He’s more conservative than I am”.

“He could help bring to fruition the thing we’ve been waiting for, for over 10 years since I got here, which would be immigration reform”.
