Clinton, Kaine team up; Sanders supporters fight back
The two would be formally accepting the nomination at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia this week. Sherrod Brown of OH or Warren. Tim Kaine received a hero’s welcome Saturday night outside his Richmond home late Saturday, capping off his debut as Hillary Clinton’s running mate.

The event at Florida International University is Clinton’s first public event in southern Florida since defeating Vermont Sen. Kaine is a sitting senator, which means the Democrats will have to re-win that seat in Virginia in order to keep their number of seats in the Senate. “Yes, I would have”, Sanders told NBC’s “Meet the Press”.
“There’s nobody that’s better picked, nobody that’s more trustworthy”, Warner said of Kaine, who he’s known since they both attended Harvard Law School 37 years ago.
At the same time, Sanders qualified the praise by adding that Kaine is “More conservative than I am”.
Kaine took jabs at some of Trump’s more controversial positions, including a proposed ban on the entry of Muslims from other countries.
He spoke Thursday on ABC’s “Good Morning America”.
“Do you want a you’re fired president or a you’re hired president?” asked Kaine.
“Hillary Clinton, she doesn’t insult people, she listens to them”.
Trump’s campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, agreed, saying Sanders’ supporters “have a lot to complain about”.
Trump has suggested reviving waterboarding against captured extremists and imposing a temporary ban on foreign Muslims entering the U.S.
Kaine is likely to be a valuable asset for the Democratic ticket in appealing to Hispanic Americans turned off by Trump’s harsh rhetoric about immigrants.
If Democratic voters turn their backs on Clinton and Kaine during the election in November, it could leave the door open for a Trump presidency.
“I’m not shocked, but I’m disappointed” by the exchanges in the emails, Sanders told ABC’s “This Week”. A Clinton campaign aide said Kaine made clear “in the course of discussions” that he shares Clinton’s opposition to the TPP in its current form. This led to a fiery debate over hacking and his urging of a foreign government to meddle in American politics. Obama considered him for vice president a year later.
Hillary Clinton has the stage. But, he said, Kaine was not the choice he was hoping for.

The bus trip likely will conjure memories of the barnstorming tour Clinton’s husband, former President Bill Clinton, embarked on after the 1992 Democratic convention with running mate Al Gore.
