Clinton, Kaine to release tax returns to pressure Trump
Hillary Clinton on Friday released her tax return for past year and criticized her opponent Donald Trump for failing to honor this tradition among American politicians running for president. Clinton, who now lives in Chappaqua, New York, paid an average effective federal tax rate of about 32 per cent from 2007 to 2014 and an effective combined tax rate of approximately 40.5 per cent.

In addition, the Clintons donated 9.8 percent of their adjusted gross income to charity, the campaign reported. It is not the same organization as the better-known Clinton Foundation. A lower income would undermine his image as a successful businessman.
Trump has yet to release his tax returns. Let me repeat that: “the Trump family gets a $4 billion tax cut. and 99.8 percent of Americans get nothing”.
With the release of now 10 years of tax returns, Clinton brings attention to the almost 40-year bipartisan tradition of presidential candidates publicly disclosing their returns – and Trump’s refusal to do so. The Clintons donated as much to charity previous year as Trump did to the veterans in 20l6.
Democrats believe Mr Trump’s returns could be a treasure trove of politically damaging information.
“Why should all the lawyers, accountants and doctors who run their income through partnerships be subject to a 15% rate because it’s considered business income, when if they just worked for a living it would be taxed at 33%?” “Yesterday we witnessed the latest in a long line of casual comments from Donald Trump that cross the line”. Obama repeatedly used Romney’s business dealings against him and seized upon his reluctance to release certain tax records.
Clinton’s running mate Tim Kaine also released his returns for the past 10 years on Friday. Over the last decade, the couple has donated 7.5 percent of their income to charity, the campaign said, and paid an effective tax rate of 25.6 percent a year ago.
The IRS has said there is no timetable for when the audit of Trump’s complicated tax returns will be completed, though there is no law stating Trump could not release the returns as filed while the audit continues. The campaign did not respond to messages.

Apparently, Clinton was responding to Trump’s Detroit speech where he told his audience that he would soon unroll his position on several issues facing America. But her substantial wealth has caused headaches. The couple’s tax forms show that to be a pretty profitable enterprise: the former president earned $1.7 million in consulting fees last year – but that is down from $6.4 million the year before. The couple earned more than $10 million in 2015, the documents say.
