Clinton, Kaines to release tax returns amid Trump’s refusal

“Of course he likes Hillary, because Hillary won’t even say the words “radical Islamic terrorism”, Trump added.

But his newest attack on Hillary Clinton was allegations of “pay for play”, based on a new batch of her emails from conservative Judicial Watch.

The Clinton campaign calls Trump’s statement risky.

Trump made the comments at a North Carolina rally on 9 August 2016, in which he implied that if elected, Hillary Clinton would stack the high court with anti-gun judges: “If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks”.

“The people behind me, they’re all on television”, he said. Or was he merely musing about the indisputably powerful influence of the gun lobby?

On the other hand, Clinton said in her speech that she supports more government regulations, and would expand upon current regulatory authorities.

A draft of the letter, which operatives say has at least 70 signatories, warns that Trump’s “divisiveness, recklessness, incompetence, and record-breaking unpopularity risk turning this election into a Democratic landslide”. “A person seeking to be the president of the United States should not suggest violence in any way”.

The campaign unveiled a new website, togetherforamerica.com, that lists dozens of Republicans and independents who back Clinton, including former director of national intelligence John Negroponte and former NY mayor Michael Bloomberg. The effort was organized by Andrew Weinstein, a prominent Trump critic who worked on Bob Dole’s 1996 presidential campaign and who served as deputy press secretary for Newt Gingrich during his tenure as House Speaker.

A more likely scenario would be a replay of the 1996 presidential race, when the Republican Party essentially deserted nominee Bob Dole, who was badly trailing President Bill Clinton, to focus on congressional races.

He continued, “As that audience knows, the United States military has executed, by drone and otherwise, every founding member of ISIS they’ve been able to find”.

The Donald Trump who arrived at a rocking Broward County hockey arena Wednesday night wasn’t the politician who read off a TelePrompTer when he accepted the Republican presidential nomination last month, or when he laid out his economic plan in Detroit earlier this week. It also underscored the concern, voiced by many anxious Republicans, that he can not stay disciplined and avoid inflammatory remarks that imperil not only his White House prospects but the re-election chances of many Republican lawmakers.

For Trump, the next opportunity to shift themes was to come Wednesday when he holds a pair of rallies in Abington, Virginia, and in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Trump’s accusation – and his use of the president’s middle name, Hussein – echoed previous instances where he’s questioned Obama’s loyalties. “Had we had a chance to talk to him, I would have taken him to the shed”. When Trump blasted the news media, they changed the chant to “Lock them up!”

As he tried to end the fall out from the incident Mr Trump said he had been referring to the political voting power of gun owners, not inciting violence. “I just don’t want you to be shot by someone who shouldn’t have a gun in the first place”.

Sitting next to his wife of 47 years, who helped organize the event and was also there to support Trump, he joked that he’d divorce her if she didn’t vote for the GOP nominee.

At the evangelical summit in Orlando, Trump beseeched religious leaders to convince their followers to show up to vote for him, gently chiding evangelicals for failing to vote in large enough numbers for GOP nominee Mitt Romney in 2012.
