Clinton keeps up rapid pace of Florida TV ads

Donald Trump has not spent as much on TV ads. Even though she’s not diverting any more resources to these locations, that doesn’t mean Clinton will coast through the rest of the campaign season. The new ad buy is in addition to $70 million Clinton already spent on TV time.

A senior Clinton campaign officialconfirmed to Quartz that the campaign had stopped running local ads in Colorado and Virginia and does not plan to restart its ad buys there, but said these plans can change. In Virginia, ad spending dropped 12% last month, following a 20% boost from May to June, the publication said.

Clinton is now polling 11 points ahead of Trump, on average, in Virginia and in Colorado, according to Real Clear Politics.

A swing state can turn the tide in an election, but Clinton feels confident about her chances in Virginia and Colorado, thanks in part to growing minority communities and college-educated white voters. The campaign decision comes as polls, which have shown the former secretary of state leading nationally and in the battleground states, appear to be tightening leading up to Labor Day.

Just days after Donald Trump rolled out his first general election TV ad, Hillary Clinton’s campaign said Monday it has reserved almost $80 million in TV ad buys to carry them through the fall campaign season.

The latest Clinton ad set to air in the battleground continues a well-established theme for her campaign: that Trump is unfit to lead the nation.

ABC News said the campaign plans on airing clips in Florida, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Iowa, Nevada, Ohio, North Carolina and the Omaha area of Nebraska. NPR reported the Trump campaign launched its first TV ad for the general election.
