Clinton leading Trump in Iowa

Richard Cross, a former Capitol Hill staffer, wrote that he believes he’s never voted for a Democrat running for federal office.

Trump’s remarks, delivered via teleprompter in a rare departure from his usual freewheeling rally remarks, came after Clinton vowed Tuesday to conduct a national security and foreign policy that Americans could be proud of.

“The reality is, I can not vote for Donald Trump”.

But it’s not all bad news for Trump, who enjoys an 11-point edge over Clinton in IN, a state that went narrowly for President Barack Obama in 2008 before swinging to Mitt Romney, who won there by 10 points in 2012. Hillary Clinton right now has about 55 or 56 percent of Americans who say their opinion of her is negative. “The reality of American politics today is, she is the only choice”.

“And you wait and see”, she said. Turning to the Olympic team, she said, “Team USA is showing the world what this country stands for”. “Donald Trump has to hit certain marks among white voters, but don’t assume he can’t get some Democratic voters, union voters especially”.

Donald Trump made a pitch to African-American voters on Tuesday, saying Democrats had “betrayed” them and pledged he would revitalise impoverished urban communities.

Another critique is that Trump needs to focus more on Clinton and less on picking distracting fights with the media and others.

Newly-installed Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway said Wednesday the “race isn’t over because it’s August and not October”.

Campaign chairman Paul Manafort will stay with the campaign and retain his title, but it is unclear what his future role will be.

As he seeks to reroute his struggling campaign, Trump has been reading prepared remarks more frequently and has escalated his attacks on Clinton. “It’s his best general election strategy”, said Roger Stone, a Republican operative and longtime Trump confidant.

Quinnipiac also released polling from Colorado and Virginia, which said Clinton leads in those states by 10 and 12 points, respectively, in head to head matchups with Trump.

In recent surveys, Trump trails Clinton by daunting margins.

By that time, early voting will have begun in some states, adding to the Trump campaign’s difficulties in trying to turn around his political fortunes.

In a twist of irony, Trump may have to look for inspiration to the father of one of his former rivals, former President George H.W. Bush, who was able to overcome a 17-point lead by Democrat Michael Dukakis and win the 1988 presidential election.

Bringing Bannon overseas “reinforces the outsider image Trump has cultivated with voters”, argued Ron Bonjean, a former Republican congressional leadership aide.
