Clinton leads Trump by six points after Democratic confab – Reuters/Ipsos poll

“Donald Trump says, and this is a quote, ‘I know more about ISIS than the generals do.’ No, Donald, you don’t”, the candidate said.

Trump must prove that his boast that “I alone” can fix what ails America aren’t the words of a snake-oil salesman who doesn’t know his own – or the government’s constitutional – limits.

It was, said Clinton in her acceptance speech the night before, a “moment of reckoning” for the country and the real battle lay not in the convention centre in Philadelphia, but on the backroads of western Pennsylvania and OH where Donald Trump wishes to pull off a stunning upset.

But viewers turned up to hear Trump: his audience was watched by 9 million more people than it was for any other night of the Republican convention, Nielsen said. We’re betting the latter statistic won’t make it into any of Trump’s media releases, speeches, etc. Or perhaps he’ll just flat-out lie and claim that his party’s convention was more popular than his rival’s. Or maybe he’ll just blame someone els- AHA!

Clinton touched on everything from her opposition, to her life, and of course, on all the work she hopes to accomplish in the oval office.

“What’s the difference in what I told you and what they said?” But in her convention speech and her first events afterward, her priority was to go after Trump, not ask for trust.

The season of darkness was fully on display July 18-21 at the Republican Convention in Cleveland.

Hillary Clinton has 100 days to make her case to voters about why they should choose her in November.

Trump, who said he watched her speech Thursday night “out of curiosity”, said it would have been great if she congratulated him for his primary victories.

HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON: I can’t think of an election that is more important certainly in my lifetime, and it’s not so much that I’m on the ticket.

Speaker after speaker cast Trump as intolerant, inexperienced and risky, including the Pakistani-immigrant father of a Muslim American soldier killed in Iraq, who waved the Constitution and remarked that Trump “has sacrificed nothing”. Clinton spoke of optimistic topics and about her being the first female candidate for presidency. Stars like Alicia Keys, Katy Perry, Lenny Kravitz and Paul Simon performed for the Democrats, and President Barack Obama, first lady Michelle Obama and former President Bill Clinton showed off their oratorical skills.

And Wednesday night attracted 24.4 million viewers, versus 23.4 million viewers for the RNC.

“We’re going to be drawing that contrast between Hillary Clinton’s plans for our country and Donald Trump’s empty promises”, Kaine said Friday.

It is too soon for polls to assess any bounce for Clinton. The fractious conventions confirmed that those natural bases are weaker than usual because of many Bernie Sanders supporters’ continued opposition toward Clinton and many conservatives’ antipathy toward Trump.

Fox News led all cable networks both in coverage of the Republican National Convention and in average viewers across all eight days of both party conventions, according to the Hill.
