Clinton leads Trump in new 6abc/Franklin and Marshall poll
Trump has been in a public fight with Khan’s parents after Khan’s father criticized the Republican nominee at last week’s Democratic convention.

On Tuesday, Meg Whitman, a prominent Republican fundraiser and former Hewlett-Packard executive said she would back Democrat Hillary Clinton.
Clinton is widely viewed as a liar. But increasingly, Clinton and her supporters have been explicitly appealing to Republicans, hoping to win over moderates turned off by Trump’s divisive rhetoric and foreign policy inexperience.
Trump has had wide support from Republicans in Arizona, winning the state’s presidential preference race with 47 percent of the vote.
The WBUR survey also asked likely New Hampshire voters what they thought about each party’s national conventions. Clinton spokesman Jesse Ferguson said business leaders are supporting Clinton because of her economic plan and because Trump “cannot be trusted to lead our economy”.
“I’m just not there yet”, Trump said, closely echoing Ryan’s own demurral before eventually endorsing Trump, when he told CNN on May 6, “I’m not there right now”. Democratic Gov. Maggie Hassan leads incumbent GOP Sen. Kelly Ayotte in the same interview with the Washington Post.
Meanwhile, Trump’s numbers have taken a dive in polls conducted following both political conventions. The margin of error is +/- 4 points. “We’ve sort of had a rule of not getting involved in primaries because it’s usually not a good situation for the presidential candidate”. Her lead swells to 13 points, 47% to 34%, with Johnson and Stein included.
Clinton’s and Trump’s convention speeches highlighted their strengths, but also their weaknesses, and left each with much to prove.
The latter two defections mean Whitman’s endorsement capped off a two-day period during which three Republican women said they would cross the aisle to back Clinton over Trump.
Hanna previously indicated that he would never support Donald Trump but suggested that the Republican presidential nominee’s attacks on the parents of a fallen Muslim soldier crossed a line. And past polling averages haven’t settled in closer to the final result until around 70 days out, as the New York Times’ Josh Katz and Kevin Quealy reported earlier this year.
“I’m just not there yet”, Trump said in the interview.
“I’m afraid the election is going to be rigged, I have to be honest”, the Republican nominee told a town hall crowd in Columbus, Ohio on Monday.
A plurality, 49 percent to 42 percent, sided with Mrs. Clinton on “preserving and protecting the Constitution of the United States”. Mr. Trump had a similar 36 percent/62 percent split.
Pollster Richard Czuba told the Detroit News the survey found a “shocking” Clinton lead in typically reliable Republican areas in west and southwest MI, where she carries leads of 5-6 points. And according to the poll, 30% of self-identifying Michigan Republicans are not backing Trump.
Neither departure – Hanna’s nor Bradshaw’s – necessarily signals faltering support among voters drawn to Trump in part because of his strident rhetoric and willingness to eschew political decorum in favor of a tough stance on immigration and national defense. The poll found that in those west and southwest regions of MI, critical for flipping MI red, Johnson is drawing 10% and 16% support, respectively. He must answer the concern that his hair-trigger temperament makes him an unsuitable commander in chief. The third is acting in concert with her campaign.
A small team is working on Republican outreach at Clinton’s campaign headquarters in Brooklyn, largely focused on fielding calls from Republicans interested in giving money and helping with fundraising.

“He is a new candidate”, Giuliani said of Trump. It has a margin of error of +/-4.4 points.
