Clinton portrays Sanders as at odds with Obama on guns

In a new ad posted on social media, he used the former president’s extramarital affair, and Hillary Clinton’s chummy relationship with some other infamous figures to argue she is no hero for women’s rights. “I think Sen. Sanders has been wrong on gun safety and that he’s wrong on the fact that this is the leading cause of death for young people in our country, particularly young African-American men”, Clinton told Matthews.

“It seems to be part of a larger 21st-century trend in which presidential politics’ historic preference for governors has shifted in favor of senator-centric nomination battles that see Clinton, Sanders, Marco Rubio, and Ted Cruz all rating higher than an O’Malley or a Rick Perry or a Scott Walker”, Yglesias wrote.

In another similar incident, a woman heckled Mrs. Clinton at a campaign event, asking her about Broaddrick’s rape claims while the Democrat took questions from the audience.

Weaver earlier told reporters the Sanders campaign is “on the same side” as Obama, adding “I think we’re walking arm and arm on this one”.

On the campaign, someone asked Hillary Clinton, “You recently came out to say that all rape victims should be believed”. Those vulnerabilities are in comparison to Hillary Clinton and Martin O’Malley, but President Obama was not warning a guy with three blemishes on a 35 year record, he was talking to people like the Democratic senators who voted against Manchin/Toomey. A fresh opening came with the op-ed penned by Obama in Fridays New York Times in which he referred to the “virtual immunity from lawsuits” that he said gun manufacturers enjoy.

It focuses only on the encounters detailed during Clinton’s presidency – not the allegations made or revealed before or after he left the White House. While he does have the advantage of some very enthusiastic supporters and a huge online presence, Sanders appears to need something greater of a boost if he hopes to topple Clinton. Sanders would pay for it with a $1.61 payroll tax – the Democrats’ Family Act would also be funded through payroll tax contributions.

Matthews: Madam Secretary, I believe he said he will not change his mind on that point.

First lady Hillary Clinton’s role in all of this, as in Bill Clinton’s past episodes involving other women, was to “stand by her man”. Obama has sought to avoid showing favoritism in the Democratic primary, in which Clinton and Sanders have both portrayed themselves as the best protector of Obamas legacy. “Sanders voted with the gun lobby, and I voted against the gun lobby”.

Sanders has defended his record on guns by noting that Vermont is a rural state with nearly no control He has said he could have a moderating impact on the gun debate bridging urban and rural America. Sanders now says he supports banning assault weapons and closing the so-called gun show loophole that exempts private, unlicensed gun sales from background check requirements.
