“Our nation has become too divided”.

In his first response to the shootings this week, Trump called for restoring “law and order” and “confidence of our people to be safe and secure in their homes and on the street”.

The deadly shootings in Dallas also left seven officers wounded.

Trump hadn’t addressed the civilian shootings until Friday, when he lamented the “senseless, tragic deaths of two motorists in Louisiana and Minnesota”.

Trump continued: “Crime is harming too many citizens. -H” Clinton tweeted Friday, using her signature “-H” as a sign that it was written by Clinton, and not by staff.

Clinton postponed her first campaign appearance with Vice President Joe Biden following the shootings.

Trump has canceled a trip to Miami for the same reason.

The former reality television star was scheduled to sit down with Florida Hispanic leaders, including Sen.

Before the Dallas attack, Clinton also voiced concern about the deaths of African Americans, saying, “too many young black men and women have been taken from us”.

Democratic Rep. Joaquin Castro wrote that “my thoughts and prayers are with the law enforcement officers in Dallas who have been shot and injured tonight”.

The deaths of the Dallas police officers followed the police shootings of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Philando Castile in suburban St. Paul, Minnesota.

The week’s events mark the second time the presidential campaign has been upended by violence. Both of those events have been put off, though Clinton is still scheduled to deliver remarks at a black church convention in Philadelphia later Friday.

Biden and Clinton plan to fundraiser together in Scranton after the public rally. The following day, Philando Castile was fatally shot in a vehicle by a Minnesota officer, with the aftermath livestreamed on Facebook by his girlfriend. “Too many Americans feel like they’ve lost hope”, Trump said in a statement. Last year, Trump said he agreed with the concept of opening ties, breaking step with many of his primary rivals.

“Once he made the decision, I think that was the decision”, he said.
