Clinton prepares for unpredictable Trump at debate

The real news in the Siena numbers, though, is the erosion of Clinton’s position in the suburbs, where she is essentially tied with Donald Trump.

“After taking a day off to prepare for this Monday’s debate, Hillary Clinton is back on the campaign trail in Orlando, Florida this Wednesday”.

Most Florida voters (75 percent) said they have heard about Trump’s recent admission that Barack Obama was born in the US but doubt the GOP nominee’s sincerity.

Majorities said that both Trump and Clinton were worse than typical Republican and Democrat candidates for president, though more were likely to describe Clinton than Trump as “about the same as usual”.

Clinton touted her national security credentials at a hastily arranged news conference outside her campaign plane, accusing Trump of using the incidents to make “some kind of demagogic point”. And many commentators today are wondering whether the attacks in NY and New Jersey might thus help Donald Trump, as the San Bernadino attacks are believed to have done during the GOP primaries.

“Attack after attack”, Trump said, “we have seen how failures to screen who is entering the United States puts all of our citizens, everyone in this room, at danger”.

Clinton and her team see her experience and what they say is her steady judgment as key selling points for her candidacy. The Siena results are in line with the average of all NY polls maintained by Real Clear Politics, which has the race at 51% to 34%.

He said Clinton “is all of a sudden going to get tough”.

In the same poll last week, Clinton led Trump 48 to 44 percent. Jill Stein, the Green Party candidate, received 1 percent, and 5 percent of respondents said they were undecided.
