Clinton ‘recovering well and fit to serve as president’

Hoping to put the issue of her health behind her as she gets ready to return to the campaign trail, Hillary Clinton on Wednesday released an updated review of her physical fitness and details about a recent bout of pneumonia.

Speculation has surrounded Clinton’s health since she was forced to leave a 9/11 memorial service in NY early on Sunday.

Bardack also said Clinton’s vaccinations remained up to date – including Prevnar and Pneumovax, she said, which both help prevent pneumonia.

In July 2015, Bardack, an internist in Mount Kisco, N.Y., said Clinton is a “healthy 67-year-old female whose current medical conditions include hypothyroidism and seasonal pollen allergies”. The statement said that this is a noncontagious bacterial pneumonia and that she was treated with Levaquin, which she has been advised to take for 10 days.

Trump, 70, said he underwent a physical last week, and will reportedly reveal those Thursday on the Dr. Oz Show with controversial reality TV show Dr. Mehmet Oz.

Trump’s campaign has said he will also release more medical information to the public.

Things took a slight turn for the worse in January, when Clinton developed a sinus and ear infection, requiring a visit to an ear, nose, and throat doctor.

The 2016 letter indicates that not much about Clinton’s health condition has changed in the intervening 14 months. President Obama also campaigned for her today in Philadelphia. Former President Bill Clinton will headline that event in her place.

Clinton plans to resume campaigning Thursday.

Clinton released medical records in July of a year ago that contained some detail about her concussion in December 2012. She’s had two prior blood clots in her leg, once in 1998 and once in 2009.

Last summer, Clinton released a two-page statement from Bardack, saying “she is in excellent physical condition and fit to serve as president of the United States”.

Even before Hillary Clinton faltered in NY on Sunday – hot, dehydrated and suffering from pneumonia – Donald Trump had been raising questions about Hillary Clinton’s “stamina” and whether she has the physical ability to serve as president.

If Trump, 70, wins the November 8 election, he would be the oldest person to be elected US president.

Meanwhile, her team has called on Trump to release his own personal information.

What we do know about his health – since the Republican nominee is so interested in talking about it – is that he is overweight, on medication for high cholesterol, never exercises, and enjoys indulging in fast food.

The Trump campaign reversed itself twice yesterday over whether he would turn the full exam results over to Dr Oz, leading to speculation that there was something Mr Trump wanted to hide.
